CHAPPIE STEPHEN P. Of Forest Hills, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by parents, Michael and Mary (Sandry) Chappie; his brothers, Michael and Edward Chappie; and his sisters, Bernadine and Mary Ann Chappie and Alice Jackson. Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Barbara (Fekete) Chappie; sons, Stephen (Carol) Chappie, Brian (Rae Lynn) Chappie, Derek (Shelby) Chappie; six grandchildren, Holly, Mara, Joey, Olivia, Bella, and Sydney; and also numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was a veteran of the US Army, worked for the former United States Steel Carrie Furnace as a welder and was a proud member of St. Michael Orthodox Church in Rankin where he served as an usher for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and Pittsburgh sports. Steve loved being with family and friends and his time away at camp. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Friends are welcome Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh (412-824-8800) where a Parastas will be prayed on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be in St. Michael Orthodox Church, Rankin, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Steve will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Monongahela Cemetery.
