CERNI SAMUEL On Sunday, October 25, 2015, age 85. Son of the late Joseph and Rose Abate Cerni, born in Trafford. He was the devoted husband of Patricia Conley Cerni; loving father of Christopher J. of Mt. Lebanon and Brian P. (Shera) of Arlington, TX and deceased infant son, Thomas; proud grandfather of Nicholas and Alexandra; brother of the late Norma Schneider. Sam graduated from Wilkinsburg High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1948. He attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology (Carnegie Mellon University) where he received B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by Westinghouse for 38 years in undersea, terrestrial and space nuclear reactor applications. He was an Emeritus member of the American Nuclear Society and a lifetime member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. For many years, he was a committee chairman of Boy Scout Troop 98 and later became Scout Master.
