McCOWAN JANE On July 22, 2015, Jane McCowan left her earthly shell and, as she put it, hit the road, Jack! Jane was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 10, 1936, to Mary K. (Radcliffe) Shuster and George A. Shuster who we are sure greeted her at the gates of Heaven. She was an art teacher and loved teaching children to develop and use their skills. She loved the Outer Banks, her animals, her friends and quiet times with her family. She married Fuller McCowan, on January 8, 1968, and built a home and life of love with him and with whom she is now reunited. Surviving her are her children, Valerie Blatt of Eighty Four and Fuller Stuart McCowan of Jefferson Hills; her son-in-law, Andy Blatt and her daughter-in-law, Emily, whom she loved deeply. Also surviving are her beloved stepchildren, Charles McCowan (Carol) of Jacksonville, Florida, Scott McCowan of Madison, Wisconsin, Michael McCowan of Portland, Oregon; and many to whom she was a surrogate mother. Also surviving are her granddaughter, Valory McCowan; and grandsons, Aiden and Ashton Blatt; and many step-grandchildren, cousins, and friends in whom and through she bequeaths her legacy of love to the ages. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Richard; her children, Bliss (Tom) Williams and Douglas McCowan. Funeral arrangements private by BEINHAUER, 724-941-3211.
