RUSSELL JAMES E. Age 81, of Bethel Park, passed away at home on Sunday, November 1, 2015, after a long struggle with cancer. Jim grew up in a small town, Olean, New York, where he met his beautiful wife of 61 years, Rose Marie, and graduated from St. Bonaventure with a business degree. Jim served on a carrier with the Navy in the Korean War, spending some time in Japan and then stationed in northern California with his best buds, Ed, John and Mike. The family relocated to Rochester, NY where he began working for the Treasury Department, finally settling in Bethel Park where he and Rose raised their children, Denise, Kathie (John), Jeff (Mercia) and Laurie. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Lauren, RJ and Jordan. Jim was a quiet, caring man with a love of slot machines, crossword puzzles and coin collecting, Peanut Butter M&M's and Klondike Bars! He was a gifted carpenter, drafting and building many things around the house as a hobby. He said his greatest accomplishments in life were his four children. Jim was surrounded by loving and supportive neighbors, Charlie, Maureen and Cara, Dave, Holly, Sarah and Emily, Tom and Diane, his close friends, Marlene and Marie; and leaves behind a sister-in-law, Vivian, all who will miss him dearly. He was also predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Jerome; his brothers, William and Robert; and nephew, Tommy. A member of St. Louise de Marillac Parish, he was a devout Catholic and was very thankful for the Eucharistic ministers who came to the house when he was no longer able to attend Mass. Thank you to the Allegheny Health Network, especially Maria, Ann, Brooke, Becca and Cassie who helped care for him. Funeral arrangements will be handled by BEINHAUERS FUNERAL HOME. Family and friends are welcome to join at 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray, 724-941-3211 on Thursday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. for viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Louise de Marillac Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest in St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Olean, New York at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Louise Ladies of Charity at 320 McMurray Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241 or Allegheny Health Network, Hospice of Palliative Care Fund, Office of Fund Development, 4818 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
