REED DONALD CHARLES DON Born in 1940, Don Reed served as Missile Combat Crew Commander in the Titan II program and reached the rank of captain in the Air Force. After working for years in the community development department of a local bank, Don opened a furniture restoration and woodworking business. An early member of the Lawrenceville Urban Pioneers, Don was a longtime resident and supporter of the neighborhood. In 2001, he moved his business from his basement on 43rd Street to the Slaughterhouse Gallery & Studios on Butler Street. An active model railroader, martial artist, bicyclist and Rotarian, Don passed away after a nine year battle with cancer. Don is survived by his daughter, Madeline of New York; his sister, Nancy of Florida; and a plethora of friends and extended family members who will always remember him. Friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of Don's life on Dec. 12, 2015, at the Goodwill of Southwestern PA, 118 52nd St., Pittsburgh (opens at 10 a.m., program at 10:30).
