MELLICK ROSEMARY (PELC) Of Upper St. Clair and Jupiter, Florida was embraced by God on December 20, 2015. She was the cherished wife for 53 years of Richard Mellick; beloved mother of Tammy (Steven) Engel and Rick (Cathy) Mellick; totally adored grandmother of Michele, Ricky, and Christine Mellick and Jake and Nikki Engel; sister of Margaret (Jake) Yeckel; and she was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Rose Pelc. Rosemary grew up on the South Side Slopes and attended St. Michael's School for 12 years, where she played the trumpet, played basketball, and always received straight A's. Rosemary was a great dancer and had such a lovely singing voice that on Christmas Eve, St. Michael's would broadcast her performance of O Holy Night via outdoor speakers for the community to enjoy. When she applied for college, Rosemary scored a perfect score on the CLEP test and qualified to start her college career as a junior at the University of Pittsburgh school of General Studies. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1980 with a 4.0+ and was Class Marshal at graduation. Rosemary was also a member of Mensa. From her modest beginnings, Rosemary went on to work for Rochester Germicide, Ryan Homes, and ultimately retired as a Vice President at Mellon Bank/Chase Manhattan Bank. A very active member of her community, Rosemary served on several boards. She was the co-president of the Trotwood Hills Homeowners' Association, the founding president of the Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) at Upper St. Clair High School, and the co-founder of Upper St. Clair's Community Day. Rosemary was a voracious reader and enjoyed following various TV series with friends and family. She loved the time she spent at her second home at Oceancrest in Jupiter, Florida with her beloved husband, Dick and her scores of dear friends playing cards and Rummikub. She had a smile that could light up an entire city block, and her Florida Friends lovingly referred to her as the Girl from Ipanema. If there was an adventure to be had, she was in, traveling to places like Hawaii, the Virgin Islands, Mexico, and Moscow, Russia. She especially enjoyed her trips to Disney World and Universal Studios with her grandchildren, sharing in their joy and happiness. Not a day went by that she did not either speak with or see her children and grandchildren, and she loved nothing more than the days she spent with them at Grandma's House. Even during her illness, Rosemary was the most loving grandparent the world could imagine, never missing a sporting event, birthday party, dance recital, or holiday of any of her grandchildren. A spiritual woman and a devout Catholic since her childhood, she never missed a day of Church either. Rosemary attended St. John Capistran in Upper St. Clair, and is an Angel looking down on all of us. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS.
