WILLIAM P. MAUSTELLER A beloved husband, father and grandfather, William P. Mausteller passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020. Anyone who met Bill will remember his laugh, his generosity and his devotion to family. Bill was born in Montoursville, PA in 1935. After serving in the Army, he went to Penn State and graduated with a degree in journalism. Bill made a career out of his ability to tell a good story. After graduating from Penn State, he accepted a position at The Pittsburgh Press, where he worked as a reporter and editor until the paper closed. Bill remained lifelong friends with many of his Press colleagues. Bill then accepted a position at Tribune Review, where he remained until he retired. His work was also published in Time Magazine. Bill's colleagues described him as calm, unflappable under deadline pressure, and always ready to share a story or a laugh. It was at The Press where he met Kathleen “Kay” Tahaney Mausteller, his wife of 49 years. Their 50th wedding anniversary would have been August 1, 2020. In addition to Kay, Bill is survived by his children, Elizabeth Mausteller and William D. Mausteller, his daughter-in-law Leslie Whetstine Mausteller and his beloved granddaughter, Matilda. Despite his many accomplishments, the titles bill treasured most were husband, father and Pap to Matilda. The world won't be the same without his laugh. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Sr. Donna Marie Tahaney Scholarship Fund at Girls Hope of Pittsburgh, 1005 Beaver Grade Rd. Coroapolis, PA 15108. Arrangements made by the BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD., Glenshaw. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
