STROTHMAN H. GERALDINE (TROUTMAN) At age 92, on Monday, December 7, 2015, surrounded by loving family and caregivers at Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community. Gerry Strothman was born in Pittsburgh to Anna Helen (Strittmatter) and Curtis William/CW Troutman. After graduation from Perry High School, she worked for TWA as secretary to the district manager. Later, she spent many years working in insurance, first with her father, and later at the agency she and her husband started. In 1944, Gerry married her high school sweetheart, Ray Strothman, who was training as a B-25 bomber pilot for WWII service in Italy. Gerry's family includes: beloved husband for 67 years, Raymond, who predeceased Gerry; their son, Randy Strothman of Deutschtown; their son, Rich (Pam Bradley) Strothman of Jefferson Hills; Rich's son, Cameron (Denise Drew) Strothman of Loveland, CO and their son, Lincoln; Rich's daughter, Alexis Strothman (Alan) Meier and their son, Max of Rochester, PA; Pam's son, Jason White and children, Madison, Mikayla and Nathan; and Pam's daughter, Melissa Mastin and children, Brandon, Scott and Luke; their daughter, Sue Strothman (Jim) Johnson of Franklin Park; and Jim's daughter, Heather Johnson Ferguson and her children, Caroline and Jack of Randolph NJ; Jim's daughter, Hillary Johnson (Felipe) Miranda and daughter, Hannah of Millsboro, DE; and Jim's son, Andrew (Alex Smartt) Johnson of Kansas City, MO. Many others called her Moms or GG or Grandma or Granny Jellybean because of her loving generosity and caring spirit. Gerry will be fondly remembered for community service, including her long commitments to Passavant Hospital and Sherwood Oaks, where she had served on the Board and where she lived her final years. She volunteered at the hospital for more than 35 years – giving more than 16,000 hours of service – including as president of both the Women's Board and Art for Passavant, and as a very active volunteer in the ER. She had similar commitments over the decades to Memorial Park Presbyterian Church, from the choir to various Women's Circles. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Auditorium at Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community, 100 Norman Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066 (724-776-8100). Please do not send flowers, but rather consider a donation to Sherwood Oaks Fund, 100 Norman Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066, or Passavant Hospital Foundation, 9100 Babcock Blvd., Pgh., PA 15237, or the charity of your choice.
