BALMERT ALBERT E. Age 93, of Venice, FL, died on December 28, 2015. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on March 15, 1922, and came to Venice from Forest Hills, PA in 1989. Albert was a Senior Comptroller for Westinghouse Air Brake in Wilmerding, PA, retiring in 1986. Albert served in the US Army and was a POW during WWII. He was a member of Rotary International and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and also volunteered as a tax preparer for senior citizens. Surviving family members include his daughter, Molly Marchand of Nokomis; sons, Michael (Kathleen) of Dublin, OH, Peter (Marcia) of Mars, PA, David (Margaret) of N. Huntingdon, PA, and William (Karen) of Greensburg, PA; brother, Lee of Columbus, OH; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Martha. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Epiphany Cathedral on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
