
WOSHNER DOROTHY SZOSTAK Of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2016. She was born in 1932 in Lyndora to Helen Matula Szostak and Albin Szostak. As a young girl, she was known for her lovely singing at church, community functions and weddings. She attended Seton Hill College and majored in Spanish. In 1954 she married Lawrence B. Woshner, Jr. (deceased) and settled in Rostraver Township. She taught and later supervised the early intervention program at Mon-Valley Health Center in Monessen. Dorothy's life centered on her family. An expert bridge player, she also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and singing in her church choir. Her Polish heritage was a source of great pride. She excelled at cooking traditional Polish foods, spoke the language fluently, and loved to polka. A particularly treasured experience was a trip to Poland with her mother, sister and brother-in-law. Her absence will be profoundly felt by her devoted children, Clare (James) Budd, Lawrence (Barbara) Woshner, Victoria Woshner (Bennett Van Houten) and Justin Woshner. She is survived by her loving sister, Helen Zuzik; her nieces, Michele Harris and Helene Brett; and her nephew, Thaddeus Zuzik. She will also be missed by her grandsons, Michael, Stephen and Jonathan Budd; and by many friends. Family and friends will be received Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at HART FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3103 Lillian Avenue, Murrysville, PA 724-327-1100. Additional visitation Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Casimir Cemetery, 1507 Hamilton Road, Pittsburgh, PA.
