FURLINE JOHN J. "SONNY" Of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 1, 2015. He was born in Benwood, WV in 1936, the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Campana) Furline. He is survived by his three children, Michael (Adrienne), David (Gretchen) and Daniel (Faith); and his three beloved grandchildren, Toriana, Isabella and Rocco; he is also survived by his loving companion, Rita Miller of Penn Hills; his brother, Albert (Bettye) of Moundsville, WV; his sister, Catherine Pastorius of Glen Dale, WV; and his beloved niece and nephew, Anita McDonald of Cadiz, KY and Thomas Cole of Detriot, MI. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Jerrard Campana and Joseph Furline; and his sisters, Chris, Annie, Magdaline (Florence), Hilda and Virginia Lee. John served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958 on the USS John Hood. He retired from AT&T in 1999 after 38 years of service as a Communications Technician. He was a charter member of the St. Valentine's Mens Club of which he was a member for 47 years. He was also a member of the Finleyville Italian Gumba Society and the Pittsburgh Ski Club. He was also a flight instructor for 40 years. In addition to his passion for flying, he enjoyed traveling, skiing around the world, cooking and researching family and military history. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at PAUL L. HENNEY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 5570 Library Rd., Bethel Park. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Valentine Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
