Prior to retirement he was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park, PA serving as chair of the finance committee and on the building committee, as well as being involved in many outreach ministries. He also served as treasurer of the Wesley Institute. In his retirement years, he enjoyed reading, painting, traveling, and his many friends at Fat Head's Saloon on the South Side, where he was designated a “Founding Father” of Beer Camp.
