GEISLER DONALD PAUL Born March 23, 1934, on February 9, 2016, Donald Geisler went to join our Lord Jesus Christ after a short battle with cancer. He was preceded by Pamela Geisler, who joined our Lord in 2007. Don was born on a small farm outside of Pittsburgh, PA in 1934. He attended Carnegie Tech for two years and was drafted into the US Army in 1956. He served in the US Army in Korea from 1956-58. After he returned he joined Pittsburgh National Bank (now PNC) in 1958. Don was a pioneer in computer programming in banking, sharing in the creation of one of the first commercial checking account programs, as well as leading the installment of the first ATM network in the Pittsburgh area. He rose to the position of Director of Telecommunications in 1979, he retired from PNC in 1992. Since then, he was active in Y2K programming, as well as serving as the business manager of St. Vincent DePaul of Pittsburgh. For many years he was active in St. Valentine's Catholic Church of Bethel Park, PA. Mr. Geisler and his wife moved to Sun City Hilton Head in 2000, where he was active in community affairs, Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Within Sun City, he was an active member of The Computer Club, The Veterans Association and The Woodworkers Workshop. He also enjoyed supporting and attending events for both the Sun City Community Theater and The Sun City Fishing & Hunting Club. Additionally, he enjoyed regular participation in a River Bend Poker Group. For many years, he was an active volunteer with Second Helpings and Catholic HEART Workcamp. He met Pamela Rae Watt in 1960. They were married in 1961, and were married for 46 years until Pam's death in 2007. He then married Margie Snyder in 2008, where they enjoyed more than seven happy years. He is survived by Margie; sons, Scott (Debbie), Robert (Susan) and Gregory (Kimberley). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Zachary, Alex, Peter, Morgan, Hannah and David. He will be sorely missed. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2016, at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton. Burial services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Beaufort National Cemetery.
