GARBART DOROTHY M. (THORNTON) Age 98, of Fombell, formerly of West View, passed away on Thursday, July 30 2015, while under the care of Creek Meadows Senior Guest Haus in Franklin Township. Born February 7, 1917, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Marie (Herman) Thornton. Dorothy was a longtime faithful member of the North Hills United Presbyterian Church in West View and was also an active member of the AARP and New Beginnings. She loved crocheting and made numerous lap robes for a local nursing facility and enjoyed playing Bridge. Dorothy will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Marilyn Heintz of McCandless Township; her daughter-in-law, Marilyn M. Garbart of Fombell; her five grandchildren, Lisa Mottshaw, Kelli Wild, Alison Yerkins, Jason Heintz and Gwen Haden; and her nine great-grandchildren, Casey, Jenna, Nicole, Hannah, Leah, Kendall, Loughran, Zachary and Cody. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George William Garbart; her son, William T. Garbart; and her two sisters, Shirley Myers and Jane Ward. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the North Hills United Presbyterian Church, 100 Bellevue Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15229, with Rev. H. William Dambach, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's honor in support of Creek Meadows Senior Guest Haus, 1630 Ellwood City Road, Zelienople, PA 16063. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 324 E. Grandview Avenue, Zelienople.
