FUNARO JEROME R., Sr. Age 81, of Oakdale, passed away peacefully at Asbury Heights Nursing Center on August 20, 2015, of complications of Parkinson's Disease. Born on August 9, 1934, Jerry was the son of the late William and Maria Rose Funaro; beloved husband of Patricia (Punola) Funaro; and loving father of Jerome R. Funaro, Jr. (Scott Johnstone). He also is survived by his sister, Amelia Roach; brother, Eugene (Gail); and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters, Josephine James, Lena Bruno, Elizabeth Bruno, Rose Descalzi; and brothers, Frank, William and Samuel. Jerry was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Robinson Township. He was a Charter Member, 4th Degree, and Past Grand Knight of Holy Trinity Council 11279. A veteran, Jerry served honorably with the U.S. Army. Jerry loved sports, especially the Steelers, Pirates and the North Fayette Softball League, where he competed for many years. Family will welcome friends Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the JOSEPH M. SOMMA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 5405 Steubenville Pike, Moon Run, Robinson Twp. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Jerry was known to all for his kindness, compassion and generosity.
