ALEXANDER BARBARA A. Age 82 of Apollo, formerly of Plum, passed away on February 24, 2019. Wife of the late John M. Alexander. Loving mother of John Sullivan, Sr., Bonnie (Kevin) McKinney, Geoffrey (Vicki) Alexander, and Tracey (Jeff) Ruscitto; 14 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren and her furry faithful companion, Gigi. She was preceded in death by parents, Jack Whitelaw and Mary McIntyre; and sister, Dolores Hooper. She enjoyed her grandchildren, the beach, traveling, reading, and cutting her grass on her tractor. ALLSTON SARAH G. "SAL" (GROVE) Formerly of Forest Hills, a longtime resident of Seneca Manor, age 89, on Monday, February 25, 2019 while in the care of her loved ones. Beloved wife of the late Dale E. Allston, Jr. for 49 years; loving mother of Janice (David) Palermo of Monroeville and Brian Allston of FL; dear grandmother of Douglas (Erin) Palermo of Verona and Mike (Amber) Allston of ND; great- grandmother of Joshua Palermo, Lauren, McKenna and Aiden Allston; sister of the Martha Donatelli and the late Myra Boyle. Sal was a retired employee from the Women's' Wear Department of the former Horne's in Monroeville Mall. Prior to Horne's, she worked as a keypunch operator for Union Railroad. VRANICH MARY FRANCES "BABE" Died peacefully on Saturday evening, February 23, 2019 at her home in Wexford, PA where she and her husband, Marko Vranich Jr., raised their ?ve children and hosted many wonderful Christmas Eve and family gatherings. Mary was the youngest of eight children born to Anton and Anna (Truban) Stefanich on May 15, 1927 in Campbell, OH. She graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1945 and then attended St. John's General Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, where she graduated on March 12, 1948. While in nursing school she was swept off of her feet by her husband of almost 70 years, Marko Vranich Jr., age 99, whom she married on July 2, 1949 at Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church in Youngstown, Ohio. Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, gardener and career woman. She worked throughout her life as a Registered Nurse in many different capacities and retired as a Regional Nursing Home Inspector for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania . She was very proud of her nursing career and talked of it often. Mary's memory will be cherished by her husband, Marko; her sons, Marko Vranich III of Wexford, John Vranich (Valerie) of Gibsonia; and daughters, Anita Uzonyi of West View, Kathleen (Daniel) Suchy of Moon Township, and Julie (Dr. John) Waltz of Boise, ID; and ten grandchildren, Andrew (Katheryn) Uzonyi, Anton Uzonyi, Angela Vranich (?ance Ben Lewis), Nicholas Vranich, Lauren, Danielle, and Ryan Suchy, and Tatiana, Alexis and Stefan Waltz; and two great- grandchildren, Luca and Geno Uzonyi. Preceding her in death were her parents, siblings and their spouses, Dr. William (Ruth) Stefanich, Anthony (Anna) Stefanich, Ann (James) Rich, Julia (Gene) Calabria, Elizabeth (Paul) Benchwick, Katherine (Eugene) Weiss, Rose (Louis) Demyen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 10 a.m., in St. Alphonsus Church, Wexford. The majority of his service was on the USS Calvert. He participated in many significant WWII battles, including North Africa, Sicily, Makin Island, Gilbert Island, Kwajalein Atoll, Saipan, Tinian and the Marianas, Leyte and Luzon, and Kiro Wan, Japan. He served on the Calvert until it went out of commission. The Calvert received many awards and Decorations including the Navy Unit Commendation, WWII Victory Medal, The Philippines Liberation Medal with two stars and Korean Service Medal with two stars. During his Navy career, he volunteered as a sea diver. His devotion to the military extended to nearly consistent attendants at the USS Calvert reunions and greater than 25 years of volunteering at the VA ceramics department. He collected thousands of dollars for the VA by collecting aluminum cans for more than 25 years. His life of service included, volunteering with St. Michael's Church and Passion Play, St. Paul of the Cross Monestary and by helping everyone he encountered. SZUBA PATRICIA A. (SWEENEY) June 17, 1942 - February 24, 2019. Of Leet Township. Loving wife of the late Thomas A. Szuba, Sr.; devoted mother of Thomas A. (Elizabeth) and Michael P. (Amy); and adoring Grandma Patty to Emma, Paul, Jack, Lizzie, Joe, and Tess. Pat was the daughter of the late Paul and Emma Sweeney. She was preceded in death by siblings, Warren Sweeney, Dorothy Sweeney and Joanne Lundell; and is survived by many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Glen?eld, Pat graduated from Sewickley High School in 1960. Pat met Tom at a young adult event at St. James Church in Sewickley and after their courtship they enjoyed 43 years of marriage. Pat considered her devoted sons, Tom and Mike, to be two of her greatest accomplishments and cherished her grandchildren, who were the joys of her later years.   For more than 30 years, Pat served as the librarian of St. James School in Sewickley, a vocation perfectly suited to her as she was a devout Catholic, an avid reader and loved children. Pat lived her faith, treasured her family and enjoyed her friends, especially Pat King, who was her close friend through life's ups and downs.   Visitation Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at C O P E L A N D'S S E W I C K L E Y, 702 Beaver St. with Prayer on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 at St. James Church. He coached little league baseball for several years in Lone Pine. He enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, making wine, hunting, camping, going to the beach, betting on the dogs at Wheeling Downs, but especially spending time with his grandchildren. BESONG DAVID ALLEN "DADO" Age 65, of McKees Rocks, gave so much of himself to others until there was no more to give. Dado lost his battle with cancer on February 25, 2019 and has joined his mother and loved ones in heaven. He is now free of pain and driving his Corvette on country roads. He was born October 1, 1953 in Sewickley, PA to the late William E. and Viola (Sharf) Besong. He was one of ten children, attended Quaker Valley Schools and resided in McKees Rocks. He was a salvage yard operator for Trapp and Webb Salvage Yard, McKees Rocks. Dado is survived by his siblings, Kathy (Dennis) Swarmer of Beaver Falls, Beverly (James) Rupert of Emsworth, Janet (Jack) Crain of New Kensington, Darla Besong of New Castle, William (Carolee) Besong of Ambridge, Gerald Besong of Fair Oaks, Hugh (Nancy) Besong of Ohioville, Jay (Lori) Besong of Fair Oaks, Steven Besong of Fair Oaks; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; close friends, Debbie (Armond) Trapuzzano, Puff McCarthy, Paul Goerman, and Terry Soman. McCLAREN SHARON R . (MORIARITY) Of Whitaker and Amsterdam, OH who fought a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer passed away on February 26, 2019 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of John S. McClaren, Jr; cherished mother of Kari Saxon, Erin (Joe Kolechta) Saxon, Jessica (Adam) Elkins, Clint (Lauren Stalker) McClaren, and Cody McClaren; special grandmother to Madison, Aiden, C.J. and Abigail ; sister of Lisa (Steve) Chedwick, Melissa (Mike) Dzvonik, Brian McClaren and Pat (Cindy) McClaren; daughter-in-law to John and Carol McClaren; also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. (CRAWFORD) On February 23, age 67 of Peters Twp., heard the call of heaven and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, where she was reunited with her recently deceased husband of 44 years, Jack. Dedicating 23 years of her life as a Chaplain at Country Meadows, Joan was known for her compassionate heart and listening ear to help those in time of need. GEER FAITH WESTON "MOMDUCK" Passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on February 26, 2019, after a year-long battle with stage 4 melanoma. Momduck is survived by her three children, Kelly (Chris Williams), Nathan (Colby Croft), and Natalie (Josh Caslow). Alumnus of Hoover High School, Ohio Wesleyan University, and Pittsburgh University. Faith spent most of her time serving others - whether it was encouraging her children to follow their dreams, teaching gifted kids at Shaler Area Schools, developing strategic plans for churches, volunteering at the Nyadire Mission in Zimbabwe, or her involvement at the district level of the United Methodist Church as an Annual Conference Delegate and active member of the Reconciling Ministries Network. Since 2000, Faith served as the Administrative Director at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Allison Park, PA. In this role, she had daily visibility to a number of organizations that help people in need. Accordingly, in lieu of ?owers, please consider the following wonderful organizations: UPMC Melanoma Foundation, The Nyadire Connection, or Reconciling Ministries Network. Faith will be deeply missed and we encourage all to celebrate her life. KIRBY JOSHUA A. Age 28, of Shaler Township, formerly of Lawrenceville, on Monday, February 25, 2019. Beloved son of Larry and Nancy Kirby; loving brother of Michael (Torie) Kirby and Zachary (Jamie) Kirby; cherished uncle of Kadence, Kaleb, Caylee, Jordyn, Kendyl, Cole and Kaison; grandson of Vicki and the late Mike Goebel, Frances Daily, the late Albert and Marjorie Kirby; also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Kozesky, Jr., and Ann F. (Frank) Fitz; sister- in-law of Diane C. (John) Schoenstein, Walter R. (Debbie) Husar, Robert L. (Celeste) Husar, Daniel P. Husar, and Carol A. Robertson; also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. and Martha F.
