RUTH F. ANDERSON Age 96, of Penn Hills, PA, peacefully passed away on July 20, 2019. Mrs. Anderson is the daughter of Ruth D. (Nevergold) and Sidney H. Hedges of Pittsburgh, PA. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, William E. Anderson, of Penn Hills, PA, and her daughter, Deborah Jane Anderson Carroll (Michael Carroll), of Taos, NM. She is survived by her daughters, Carol R. Anderson (Polly Keener) of Hadley, MA, and Kathy L. Anderson, of Oakmont, PA; grandchildren, Violeta Ruth Garcia-Mendoza Killmeyer (Todd Killmeyer) of Oakmont, PA, and Gunner William Anderson Keener of Hadley, MA; great-grandchildren, Maya, Joaquin, and Majandra Killmeyer Garcia-Mendoza of Oakmont, PA. She was also blessed with many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Ruth graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1940, where she was a cheerleader. She then attended a technical school where she studied Comptometer and, with that skill, went to work at J & L Steel in Pittsburgh during World War II. Ruth and Bill married in 1945, after Bill's service in the Navy in the South Pacific. They settled in Penn Hills, where she lovingly raised their daughters. Ruth enjoyed social events with Bill as a member of Alcoma Golf Club; they also enjoyed musical theater in Pittsburgh and New York City. Ruth was a lifelong member of Unity United Presbyterian Church, where over the years, she served as Deacon, Trustee, Elder, Sunday School teacher, and Chairwoman of the Ruth Circle. She also volunteered at Woodwell for decades and, more recently, served on the Presbyterian Senior Care Foundation Board. In her later years, she was aided by loving and dedicated women which allowed her to remain in her home: Wynter Lyle, Carolyn Dukes, Brittany Wright, Chassity Chronick, Linda Nulph, Linda Anderchak, and Debbie Waugaman. Ruth's spirit will live on through the kindness she showed everyone around her. JoAnn was a member of Greater Works Outreach Church in Monroeville and was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse at Kane Community Living Center in Glen Hazel. JOAN UNICO Formerly of Dormont, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Artis Senior Living of South Hills in Bethel Park on Wednesday July 24 at the age of 88. She was a fun-loving, yet hard-working inspiration to all, a fantastic mother and a devoted wife. For 47 years, she was the face of Paper Packaging Co., a family-owned manufacturing plant which produced boxes for the pizza and bakery industries. She worked tirelessly, not only in the office but also in the plant. Joan Pigoni married Dan Unico on September 13, 1952 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Beechview. The couple not only worked side-by-side for many years, they also attended almost every men's and women's basketball game at Duquesne over the past four decades. She was an avid book club member and also partook in several card clubs. Unfortunately, she enjoyed the social aspect of playing cards more than winning, much to the frustration of her more competitive partners. Her friends and family all witnessed her generosity. Joan and Dan have four children, Ken Unico (Sheila) of Mount Lebanon, Mark Unico (late Donna) of Upper St. Clair, Renee Eaton (Mark) of Portland, OR, and Lisa Unico (Phil Hahn) of Saybrook, OH. She is the sister of Patricia Smithyman of Lake Placid, FL, Charles Pigoni, Jr of Cleveland, OH and the late Harriet Howarth. They also have 11 grandchildren, Matthew V. MARY ANN (RAPP) INCE Passed away July 22, 2019 after losing a courageous battle against an aggressive form of cancer. She was 72. Mary Ann, born to Christian Joseph "Joe" Rapp and Mary Margaret Rapp on May 31, 1947 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was the oldest of six siblings. She was a loving mother and wife, an established appellate lawyer, a pianist, a mentor and a good friend to many. Mary Ann received her music degree from Loyola University of New Orleans specializing in piano and graduated from Duquesne University Law School with a Juris Doctorate. She started her law career with the District Attorney's office in Pittsburgh. After a period in private practice she joined the Pennsylvania Superior Court. In 1990 she joined the Maryland Attorney General's office, from which she retired as the Deputy Attorney General of the Maryland Criminal Division in 2018. She was awarded the J. Joseph Curran, Jr. Exceptional Career Service Award. She held license to practice law in the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Texas and at the Federal level the US Supreme Court, Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the MD District Court. She was also a member of the Edward Coke Appellate Inn of Court and Tarrant County Bar Association. Mary Ann is survived by her husband Ilhan Ince; daughter, Aylin Ince; mother, Mary Margaret Rapp; and siblings, Kathleen Smith, Joan Owen, Chris Harvey, Joseph Rapp and Margaret Slade. Together, they traveled the world, living in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Montreal and Japan. Judy is survived by her loving husband, Nickolas; three children, Dale (Cristina) Large, John (Laurie) Large, and Nicole (Brad) Fisher; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Jessica, Danielle, Nickolas, Joshua, and Erik. PATRICK A. KENNY Age 68, of Seaford, DE passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 peacefully at Atria Senior Living. Born on September 11, 1950 in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Richard and Anna Mary Kenny. At an early age in life, Patrick was interested in motorcycles, both selling, repairing and riding. He enjoyed this interest so much that it helped him achieve a job at the Honda House, where he was also a lifelong member of an affiliated motorcycle group, and later with Kawasaki. His friends and family deemed him a motorcycle aficionado Following his career in the motorcycle industry, he began his lifelong journey as a case worker for the Department of Human Services for both the state of Pennsylvania and then Maryland, until his retirement. Patrick was an animal enthusiast, he especially loved to sit by the water and watch the ducks and geese. He enjoyed reading and books in general and, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Most of all he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, uncle and friend. Patrick is survived by his wife, Deborah Kenny, of Seafor; a daughter, Heather (Michael) Risko; two granddaughters, Abigail Walter and Alyssa Walter; a great-grandson, Cyrus all of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Richard F. THOMAS I. AGNEW Age 85, of Irwin, died Thursday, July 25, 2019 at his home. He was born December 1, 1933, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Norman and Mary (Mizer) Agnew. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner of ComTrol, Inc., in Irwin. Tom loved History and was a long time member of the Norwin Historical Society; he was a Board member of the Norwin Library for over 50 years and was an Honorary Lifetime member of the Norwin Rotary. After graduating from Carnegie Tech, in Pittsburgh with a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Tom worked for his father at Femco, in Irwin. He then started his business ComTrol in the basement of his home. Tom was a devoted pap and never missed any of his grandsons' events or games. He loved to play the bagpipes and Tom served as a Lieutenant in the Army. He is the husband of the late Joanne Agnew; father of Jody Schmitt and her husband, Daniel, of Hempfield; grandfather of Ryan and Tanner Schmitt; brother of Jane Eye, of West Virginia, Joanne Barclay, of Alabama, Jeanne Klein, of Chambersburg; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was a WW II Navy veteran and served in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Alamance during the Philippine Liberation. After the War, he become a machinist at the Westinghouse Airbrake Co. in Wilmerding and retired after 45 years of service. As a youth, Jim caddied at the former Penhurst Golf Club in Wilkins Twp. and that spawned his passion for playing the game of golf. Jim also was dedicated to St. Colman Church of Turtle Creek where he served as an usher and volunteer. Friends are welcome on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at PATRICK T. Beloved wife of 55 years to Bernard Komoroski; loving mother of Bernard, Jr. (Valerie), Donald (Melissa), Christina (Duane) Breisinger and Jeffrey (Heather); proud grandmother of Bernard, Katerina, Julia, Emma, Brianna, Logan, Ava, Andrew and Tyler; daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine Przywara; sister of Joyce (the late Rich) Bushmen and the late Mary Ellen. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families and loving friends. Carol Ann was a 1961 graduate of St. Adalbert High School and worked in the health care industry for over 30 years. JACK LINZER Of Pittsburgh, PA and Bal Harbour, FL, passed away on July 25, 2019. He was 93 years old. He died in peace, with his family by his side. Longtime Pittsburgh resident and prominent Jewish philanthropist, Jack lived a full and rich life. Husband of Mildred (68 years); father of Don Linzer and Caryl Brown; grandfather of Katherine, Joanna and Andrew Linzer and Michael, Alissa and Laura Brown. He was a member of Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill. Born in McKeesport, PA, Jack served in the Pacific in WWII. Founder of Steel Town Builders, Jack retired in 2010. An avid runner, weight lifter and card player, Jack was an amateur nutritionist and loved cooking. A golfer for many years, he belonged to Lincoln Hills and Green Oaks Country Clubs. In retirement, Jack served for many years as President and Treasurer of the Majestic condominium in Bal Harbour, Florida. A man of many achievements, he was most proud of his marriage to his beloved Millie, his wife of 68 years. His love for her knew no bounds. Jack particularly loved being a grandfather to his six grandchildren. He truly was the Linzer patriarch
