RUDY GEORGE H. Age 89, of Coal Center, PA passed away Monday, April 4, 2016, in the Donnell House, Washington, PA. He was born March 31, 1927, in Hazel Kirk, PA, a son of the late Michael and Julia Seamen Rudy, Sr. Mr. Rudy was a graduate of West Pike Run High School and DeVry Technical Institute. Mr. Rudy was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. For his service he was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and WWII Victory Medal. He served on the USS Gordonia in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation where he developed the Mechanic Training Program at the Vesta #5 Mine. Following his retirement, he taught mining maintenance for the Republic Steel Corporation. Mr. Rudy was a member of the United Miner Workers of America and the John F. Kennedy Memorial Post 377, California, PA. He loved his wife's Italian cooking and cherished their life together. Mr. Rudy instilled in his children his strong work ethic, loyalty to his country and his love of cars and animals. Surviving are his beloved wife of 64 years, Louise; son, Robert Rudy (Diane) of McMurray, PA; daughter, Diana Hopfinger (Anthony) of Mt. Lebanon, PA; two grandsons, Matthew Maund and Daniel Rudy; one great- granddaughter, Keely Josey (Lynn); one great-great- granddaughter, Ivory Grace Josey; two brothers, Andrew and Paul Rudy; one sister, Helen Wayland; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are three brothers, Michael, Joseph and John; three grandchildren, Natalie, Nicole and Brian; beloved hunting Beagle, Honey Boy. Private funeral services were held Thursday, April 7, 2016, with interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to the JOHN B.
