ANDERSON HAROLD T. Age 94, of Monroeville, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. He was married to the love of his life, Ethel (Piquet) Anderson for 75 years. He was the loving father of Virginia Beech and the late John Anderson; adored “Gramps” of Jonathan (Jodi) Beech, Brett (Amanda) Beech, and Faith (Michael) Baleno, as well as 8 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings. Harold was a World War II Army veteran seeing combat in the European Theater. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, with the aid of the GI Bill, Harold became a Master Plumber and made that his livelihood for the next 50 years. ZVALENY JANET Age 80, a life-long resident of Moon Township, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Heritage Valley Sewickley. She was born in Sewickley, PA on August 13, 1937 to the late Daniel and Margaret (Zemba) Castellan. On July 29, 2004, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Donald L. Zvaleny. Loving mother of Pamela A. (Ronald) Galiano of Peters Twp., Lori T. Kiray, Donald A. Zvaleny (Jo-Anne Reynolds) and Janice M. Zvaleny (Tony Mosqueda) of Moon Township; devoted grandmother of Kristin Galiano (Alex Snyder), Brittany Galiano, Shannan and Brenna Kiray and Madelyn Zvaleny; sister of Elaine Castellan of Arlington, VA. Janet was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church. She loved to socialize, making everyone who entered the Moon Township K-Mart feel welcome whether it be in The Café or just checking out. Janet loved being surrounded by her family and loved to travel with the family especially to the Bahamas. She was an amazing mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the great joy of her life. She also was an avid reader. (CHUCK) Age 90, of Dormont, finally went home to be with his beloved wife of almost 59 years, Mary Lou (Tosh) Zimmerman; loving father of Scott (Jennifer) Zimmerman, Susan (Tim) Duffy, John David (Kelly) Zimmerman and Heidi (Brian) Hutchin; most adored pap pap of Lisa and Evan Duffy, Sean, Shannon and Connor Zimmerman and Hannah and Paige Hutchin; devoted brother of Allene Nichols, Lorraine Whitehouse, Patricia Baumiller, Cynthia Kaufman, Kathlyne Zimmermann and the late Arthur Zimmerman and Camilla Dezort. Chuck was a proud Army veteran. After serving in the Korean War, he immediately began his career with General Motors where he worked for 40 years. KEYSER SHELDON L. Sheldon L. Keyser passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Joan Bails Keyser; son of the late Max and Fanny Keyser; brother of the late Micki Reich (Herb) of Mt. Lebanon. He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Keyser Warsing (John) of Miami, Florida and his three most treasured granddaughters, Sydney, Olivia and Sophia and his loving, very significant other, Ruth Foltz, as well as, her children, Marcy Geiger (Joel) and Christopher Foltz (Julie) and he was the third grandpa to Julia, Michael, Molly, Jenna, and Michael. Sheldon also leaves behind his sisters-in- law, Eleanor Levine (Shelly), Susan Bails (Howard Wein), Sandra Bails and the late Irvin Bails, all of Squirrel Hill. Additionally, many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sheldon was born and raised in Squirrel Hill where he practiced law for over 50 years. He was an avid runner, biker, skier and tennis player. EVANS ROBERT WERTH Age 76, of Napa, Calif. passed away on April 22. Born October 11, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of Robert A. and Marian R. Evans. Bob graduated from Clairton High School in 1959. He had many fond and frequently shared memories of his early years in Pennsylvania. Bob and his family lived in California since 1965. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Susann M. Evans; two children; and five grandchildren and many dear family members. There will be a Mass for Bob at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Napa, Calif. on July 26, 2018. Bob was an Air Force veteran and will be interred at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. PITTMAN DR. G. FRANK JR. Age 90 of Cranberry Township, died on June 7, 2018. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 9, 1927, son of the late G. Frank and Anna (Fertig) Pittman; beloved husband of Kathryn (Tench) Pittman for 70 years, father of Lynn (Joseph) Bunting and Mark F. (Jacqueline) Pittman; grandfather of Brian (Joli) and Lee McCarthy and Morgan and Madison Pittman; great grandfather of Isla and Garen McCarthy; brother of Paul F. Pittman. Frank was an Air Force Veteran. He worked 37 years for Westinghouse beginning at the Research Labs. He was the Engineering Manager at Molecular Electronics in Baltimore, MD. Frank set up and worked at the Productivity Center in Pittsburgh and was Associate Director of Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Frank also graduated from Perry High School and Carnegie Mellon University with a BS, MS, and PHD. Frank was also an Elder and member of the Reception Committee at Memorial Park Church. HUGHES JOHN W. "JACK" JR Age 85, passed away on June 5, 2018. Jack was born on his mother's birthday, September 10, 1932, in McKeesport Hospital. He was raised in North Huntingdon, PA. Jack served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 as a Combat Engineer in Korea. His tour ended in Germany, where he enjoyed playing his guitar at Hillbilly Gasthaas in Frankfurt. After returning from Germany, Jack graduated from Pittsburgh Mortuary School in 1959 and started his career at Brandt Funeral Home, where he spent 40 years, retiring in 2000. During those years, he was heavily involved with the West View Kiwanis Club and the North Hills Chamber of Commerce, where he served as president of both organizations. Jack was one of the original organizers of the Ross-West View Ambulance Authority. Jack enjoyed Highland Country Club with social activities, golf, and “a taste” at The Men's Grill Room. Jack married Sandy McClymonds Yoder in 1994 and immediately became step-father to three sons and a daughter, and eventually “Papa Jack” to ten grandchildren. Jack moved to Naples, Florida in 2013 to be closer to family. Aside from his family, his greatest joy in life was playing the guitar and singing the “good old songs.” Jack's family will gather for a memorial service on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 8pm at NAPLES FUNERAL HOME. POPOVIC PAUL N. Passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2018, while holding the hand of his loving wife of 25 years, Cheryl Haus. Son of the late Paul R. Popovic and Anne Ursula Rothart Popovic of Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by his daughter Tanna Lambert (Levi), and granddaughter Talyn of Austin, Texas. Also survived by brother David (Colleen) Popovic, nephews Sean and Jordan (Jessica) Popovic of Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by grandson Gunner Lambert. Also survived by sister-in-law Chris (Mickey) Scheafer, Pittsburgh, PA, brother-in-law Chuck (Mary Jane) and their children, Benjamin and Jacqueline Haus of Upper St. Clair, PA. Paul was a graduate of the University of Miami, Fl. and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He played football and baseball for the Miami Hurricanes and went on to play minor-league baseball for the Cleveland Indians' organization. He remained a life-long Cleveland sports fan. Paul spent his career in three-dimensional design and marketing. While his company, the Westerly Group, Inc. focused on the trade show industry, his designs are also found in airport terminals, museums and other public venues. Paul generously shared his talents with local organizations, including St. Paul Cathedral where he chaired the Renovation Committee. As an avid golfer, Paul was a member of Chartiers Country Club, serving on the Board as Chairman of the House Committee and spear-headed the modernization of the club facilities. GORR NANCY DIANA Lifelong artist, classical pianist and mother of Walt Gorr (Pittsfield, PA) and Jon Gorr (San Diego, CA) -- passed away on May 18, 2018, at the age of 85. Born and raised with her twin sister, Louise Eisenbeis, in Mt. Lebanon, PA, Nancy graduated with a degree in Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University, then married Dr. Walter Gorr DDS and raised their boys in Moon Twp. There, she co-founded the West Hills Art League and was once featured on Saturday Night Live with her painted "Steelers fire hydrants." In the 1980's, Nancy moved to Morehead City, NC to fish and paint, and was an active member of the Carolina Artist Gallery, where much of her art is still on display and for sale. For over 50 years, she regularly mailed "Nancy-grams" to entertain and uplift the spirits of many folks living in confined conditions, and also wrote and illustrated a collection of "letters" from her tabby cat to her mother's dog. Nancy's playful spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She is survived by her sons and grandchildren: Jonathan Gorr of Houston, TX; Henrietta (Hattie) Gorr of Morehead City; Walter Gorr of Delta, UT; as well as her “surrogate” granddaughter, Molly Edmunds of Aliquippa, PA. Nancy will be greatly missed by her family, communities of friends and artists, and the composers, fishes, plants, animals, dolls and flowers she celebrated with her art.
