FALCONER JAMES W. James, 92, of Sturgeon, died Sunday, July 29, 2018, in the Rosewood of Ohio Valley Hospital. He was born April 3, 1926, in McDonald, a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Falconer. Mr. Falconer was a retired coal miner with Consolidated Coal Co. He was a member of United Miner Workers of America and was a World War II Army veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden. Surviving are his sons, Jeffrey (Christine) Falconer, Mark (Rosemary) Falconer and Brother, Richard (Dorothy) Falconer, all of Oakdale; grandchildren, Courtney (Craig) Elliott, Joshua, Megan, and Dr. Elissa Falconer; great-grandchild, Madeline Elliott. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia Falconer (2009); four sisters, four brothers, and one great-grandchild, Cameron Elliott. ENGELBERG EVELYN ROSENBERG Took her last breath at sunrise on July 30, 2018, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Loving, generous, and devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt, "Bubbie," great-grandmother, and friend. Beloved by all who came to know her, she radiated love and wit and showed sincere interest in people's lives. Born in 1920 in the Bronx, she was raised by her loving parents, Maurice Aaron and Elise Rosenberg, in a warm Yiddishe family, with her sister, Harriet Rosenberg Mallin. Together with the love of her life and husband of 60 years, "Chaim Dovid," Evelyn gave generously of her time, energy, and philanthropy to many Jewish causes locally, nationally, and in Israel, especially Technion. She was an active member of Young People's Synagogue since its founding, and sent all her kids to Hillel Academy. She was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Evelyn was a published author and poet-- her pen name was Eva B. Moses. Her favorite expressions included: "As long as the kids are healthy," "Zei gezunt un shtark," and "L,Chaim!" Evelyn was an avid bridge player, loved to sing and dance with her husband, and enjoyed beach walks with the family in La Jolla, California, where she spent many winters. Known for her open heart and hospitality, she always had room for one more at the table. Evelyn is survived by her children: Mimi Hein and her husband Peter, Roz Becker, Sheri Sable, Marcy Rubin and her husband Bob, and Moshe Engelberg and his wife Dana Parnes; along with her grandchildren, Jon Hein and his wife Debbie, Kevin Hein and his wife Melissa, Abby, Benny, Jonas Becker, Shana Sable, Becky Sable and her husband Osamah, Leba Sable and her husband Juan, Jake Rubin, Emily Rubin, Alyssa Engelberg and her husband Guillermo, Jessa, Ben, and Hana Engelberg, Arielle and Eli Parnes-Katz; and great-grandchildren Rachel and Emily Hein, and Danny and Cari Hein. May she rest in peace and may her spirit soar to celestial heights in glorious Gan Eden. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, William L. Mellett; her parents, and sisters: Margaret Patterson, Cecelia Barrett, and Theresa McMillan. Survived and loved dearly by her four sons and her daughters-in-law: Michael of Covina, CA; William and Laura (Keyes) of Ballwin, MO; Thomas and Barbara (Weber) of Moon Twp.; James and Janette (Gorczycki) of Mt. Lebanon; and Dana Moulder of California. Beloved grandmother who will be deeply missed by her five grandchildren: Shivahn (Steve) Petty; Erin (Zak) Hall, Kelly (Brett) Hill, Kathryn Mellett, and Gannon Mellett; and also great-granddaughters Kayla and Sophia Petty. Gert also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, friends, and her special family next door, The Wildfires. All who knew Gert will miss her kindness, gentle ways, and love. PFLUGFELDER GERHARD E. "GARY" Of Mt. Lebanon, passed away at age 88 on July 29, 2018 in New Wilmington, PA. He was born on March 15, 1930 in Gammesfeld near Schwabish Hall, Germany to Wilhelm and Martha the oldest of three boys. Growing up in war-torn Germany, he didn't have much of a childhood. After his School Headmaster father died serving his country, Gerhard, along with his younger brothers Helmut and Reinhold, emigrated to Pittsburgh with their mother in 1950. Shortly afterward, he was drafted to serve in the Korean War and has proudly worn his Korean War Veteran baseball cap ever since. In 1960, Gary married Margaret H. Kapalo Pflugfelder with whom he lived in the Pittsburgh area; they lived in Mount Lebanon since 1971. Gary started his working career as a skilled Draftsman but he lost patience working for someone else. Gary became self-employed as an Insurance Agent and finally as a Landlord but his true passion was cars--especially 60's and 70's Mopars (Chryslers, Dodges and Plymouths). He was a member of Pittsburgh C.A.R.S. for many years and could be found at car cruises around the South Hills area. Gary is survived by his wife Margaret of New Wilmington, PA; his children, Mark and his wife Shirley of Ramsey, NJ, John and his wife Karen of New Castle, PA and Sandy of Port Chester, NY; his Grandson Eric of Ramsey, NJ; and his brother Helmut of Pittsburgh, PA. Gary was predeceased by his brother Reinhold. PASS PATRICIA EMILY (KNOLL) Patty, age 74, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018, sadly taken from us after fighting a valiant battle against Parkinson's Disease. Patty shared a wonderful and full life with and is survived by, her husband of 52 years, Joseph J. Pass; sister Michelle Knoll Krings and her husband Doug Krings; three children and their spouses and significant other, Melissa (Pass) Young and Christopher Young, Christine (Pass) Ellison and Christian Ellison, and Joseph S. Pass and Jennifer Seretti; and eight grandchildren, Avery Young, Caden Young, Lucas Young, Whitaker Young, Bishal Ellison, Sahara Ellison, Kiran Ellison, and India Ellison. She is also survived by her uncle, James Morgan; and many nieces and nephews. Patty was born in McKees Rocks, the daughter of Herbert and Patricia Knoll. She was a graduate of Montour High school and the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. She married her husband in 1966, whom she first met riding horses on the streets of McKees Rocks in a snowstorm. Patty was one of the first teachers to teach Head Start, an education program designed to help disadvantaged children. She then taught elementary school in the West Allegheny School District, and when her husband entered the US Army, she taught in Muldraugh, Kentucky, where in 1968 she was asked to leave because she was pregnant with her first child. She was the heart of her home and always made those around her feel welcome and a part of her family. Her life was enriched by family, friends, gardening, delivering Meals on Wheels, bowling, bridge, puzzles, golf and late night rounds of Rummikub. Patty doted on her grandchildren who accentuated her love of travel through frequent cross-country journeys to attend the next sporting event, graduation or recital. Her kind heart, wit and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Predeceasing Patty are her parents and sister Cheryl Knoll. PASCARELLA RICHARD S. "RICHIE" Originally from Sewickley, currently from Virginia, passed unexpectedly in Pittsburgh on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the age of 52. He was born in Bellevue on October 6, 1965 to Frances (Papantino) and the late Richard E. Pascarella. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Julie Garcia; sister, Rebecca Effert (Robert); sister-in-law, Laura Parker (Frank); nephews, Alec and Jameson Parker; cousins, Keith Graham (Barb), Todd Graham (Kelly), Lori Kramer (Matt) and Melanie McGill (Sean); his special friend, Lynn Landi and her children; also many other loving second cousins, friends, and co-workers. Richie, an avid animal lover, loved his dog, Casey, and her cousin, Blazer. Richie, a season ticket holder, was a die-hard Steelers and Pens fan and enjoyed golfing and bowling. Richie, Uncle P, possessed a great baking ability, and made the most delicious cookies. Richie began his career at United Airlines in 1989, where he joined IAMAW Capital Lodge 1859 in Herndon, VA. He began serving AM members as Shop Steward, and later held leadership positions at the local lodge as Educator, EAP Representative, Grievance Committee Chair, Vice President and President. He was elected Vice President of the Virginia State Council of Machinists and later joined the leadership of District 141 as a Trustee. Richie also served as District 141 Vice President, East and was elected Assistant General Chair in 2014. He was a life-long dedicated unionist and passionate advocate for working men and women. He will be remembered for his warm and gracious demeanor and his vibrant personal style.
