JAMES B. HAMILL "JIM" James B. Jim Hamill, of Brookline, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, surrounded by his children, daughter-in-law, and his children's mother, a loving friend. Jim was the beloved son of the late Edna and Donald Hamill; brother of the late David (Norma) and Patricia Ann Hamill; father of Adam (Maggie) and Bridget Hamill; loving friend of Patricia Hamill; nephew of the late Edna May Hamill; uncle of Jason (Lindsay) and Mike (Chris) Hamill; great-uncle of Ellery, Hannah, Sarah, Morgan, and Moses; and friend of many. Born on April 14, 1951, Jim graduated from South Hills High School in 1969 and lived his life in the City of Pittsburgh neighborhood of Brookline. He was a loyal employee of Schneider's Dairy for 45 years and Teamsters Union Steward for Local 205 for more than 10 years. Jim deeply and unconditionally loved his children and valued family to the highest extent. He was caring, generous, and had a bigger heart than most likely knew; a loving son, brother, father, caregiver, and friend. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and golfing; cooking, DIY and home improvement projects, and took great pride in his home and the life he built. Jim bravely battled metastatic lung cancer for a year and a half before his passing. While he was taken from our lives sooner than imagined, his spirit will continue to live on in his family and hopefully through those whose lives he touched. He will be sorely missed and loved always. Due to COVID-19, a formal service and celebration of Jim's life will be postponed until a later date. To make a donation in memory of Jim, his family would like gifts to be made to organizations that he supported: Shriners Hospitals for Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org), Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (www.givetochildrens.org).
