WARD JIM “JAY” Jim Ward, age 84, of Economy Borough, passed away peacefully Monday, February 8, 2016, at Friendship Ridge. Born April 21, 1931, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late James W. and Evelyn A. Ward. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving on Guam during the Korean War. He was a resident of Economy Borough for over 50 years. He was retired from Mellon Bank, and was an active member of the Concord Presbyterian Church. He was an avid skeet and trap shooter at the North Borough Sportsman's Club, as well as an accomplished woodworker. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alice Haley Ward. Also surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Joan Ward, and their daughters, Molly and Sarah; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and April Ward; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Ruth Ward; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janet Haley Lotz and Paul Lotz; nephews, Robert (Amelia) Ward, Jason (Carla) Ward, and Adam Ward; as well as many great- nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. We would like to give thanks to our wonderful neighbors and friends who gave their time, support, and understanding during a difficult period, as well as a sincere thank you to the caring and compassionate staff of 3 East at Friendship Ridge. A “Celebration of Life” service and luncheon will be held on February 16, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Concord Presbyterian Church, 2832 Conway Wallrose Rd., Baden, PA 15005. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Pittsburgh Alzheimer's Association are appreciated. Donations may be sent to 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
