NEAL MARTHA ANN "M.A." ASHCRAFT KAHLE Age 89, of Washington, died on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, in her home. She was born on February 24, 1930, in Monongahela, a daughter of the late Harry John and Nellie Sickels Ashcraft. Martha was a 1947 graduate of Monongahela High School, and graduated from, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, the Royal Horticultural School of London and Computer Tech. She worked at the Enchanted Village, and Mace Electronics. Martha was the President of the Pittsburgh Figure Skating Club, and was Chairperson of the 1983 National Figure Skating Championships in Pittsburgh. Martha worked at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, doing computer programming and aftercare support. Martha wrote and published a genealogy book, The Ashcraft Family, Descendants of Daniel that continues to sell on Amazon. Mrs. Neal was a member of MENSA, and DAR, and enjoyed going on cruises, reading, crossword puzzles, bird watching, gardening, and going to dinner. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, and especially her daughter Sheri, who will miss her more than words can say. Her name was rarely mentioned without the word "classy." She exuded class, compassion and generosity. This world is a lesser place without her in it. Martha received incredible care from her caregivers from the Caring Mission, Ruth, Sherri, Tina, Kelley and Leolia. Martha's daughter Sheri, thanks the Caring Mission, and Martha's caregivers from the bottom of her heart. In 1948, she married Donald Foster Kahle, who died on July 1, 1976. On October 18, 1986, she married William G. Neal, Jr., who died on April 5, 2014; surviving are two sons, Robert (Claire) Kahle, and Gary (Theresa) Kahle; a daughter, Sheri Kahle; two stepsons, William (Debra) Neal, III, and Michael Neal; a stepdaughter, Stacey (Gary) Snook; a brother, George (Cathy Glad) Ashcraft; a sister, Jane Necciai; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her grand dog, Lucy. Deceased are two sisters, Harriet Pippert and Marion Legler; a stepdaughter, Karen Neal; and a grandson, Ronald Lyle, III. Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the WILLIAM G. She took great pride in crocheting warm and cozy afghans for all her grandchildren and was also talented in creating ceramic decoration, especially for the Holidays. Her whole world was her family. Never had a bad word for anyone! She was a special gentle woman who gave so much to so many. She was the greatest baker and homemaker, loved Croatian Days at Kennywood and picnics at Millvale. Beloved wife of the late Leo G. Russell; loving mother of Thomas G. (Suzette), Timothy L. (Elena) and Robert R. Upon normal retirement age, Deanie continued as a Community Outreach Liason for UPMC. KANIECKI ROBERT M. "BOB" Of Ross Twp., on Thursday, April 18, 2019. Bob served in the Army Air Force for four years. He studied languages at Syracuse University and was a Russian interpreter during the Korean War. He was awarded a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Rutgers University. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of nearly 60 years; three sons, Robert (Christine), James (Denise), Brian; and nine beautiful grandchildren who called him "Pop Pop"; and sister, Eileen (Brennan); and sister-in-law, Eileen (Janasik); and many nieces and nephews. He spent his career in the steel industry, which took him around the world, and rose to the rank of Vice President. He became an "honorary Irishman," traveling to Ireland 28 times. Bob belonged to several Irish organizations: Ancient Order of Hibernians, whose motto is "friendship, unity and Christian charity"; President of Conway Mill Trust, a non-profit group working to better the lives of people in the North of Ireland; Treasurer of Irish American Unity Conference, working for a peaceful and united Ireland. He served as Treasurer of Pittsburgh Ceili Club, which promotes Irish dance and culture, plus All Ireland Social Group and Gaelic Arts Society. Bob and Jean were honored by the Irish Echo newspaper as Community Champions for their work in the Irish community, and in 2009 he was honored to be an invited guest at the White House on St. Patrick's Day. TICICH JOHN S. Age 80, of Moon Township, beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa, diado and friend, passed away on Saturday, April 20, ,2019. He was a man of quiet, gentle strength, deep humility, great faith and a warm caring soul. John was born October 9, 1938 in Weirton, WV. A son of the late Samuel and Pearl Ticich. After the family moved to Cleveland, he graduated from East High School and joined the U S Army. John earned a Bachelor's Degree in accounting from Kent State University and it was there that he met his wife of 53 years, Margie. He was employed by PPG Industries and moved his family to Pittsburgh, twice, Salisbury, NC, and Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. John's great joy was tennis which he played until stricken with Parkinson's Disease. John was a man who didn't need much to be happy. He enjoyed their condo in Myrtle Beach, S.C., being with family and spending time with the grandchildren. His legacy of love will live on in all of us. John is survived by his wife, Margie; his children, Maureen (Jeff), Melanie (Phil) and Michelle (Paul); his brother, Dr. Steve (Lori) Ticich, brother-in-law, Edwin (Debra); his grandchildren, Sonise, Ani, Gregory, Chalinda, Evan, Aaron, Neissa, Vanessa, J.T., Phillip and Morgan. KEFALOS GUST G. Age 95, of Verona, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 21, 2019. Gust was born in Verona, but raised on the beautiful island of lkria, Greece. He is survived by his wife, Doris; and loving children, John and Magdaline; and sister, Barbara. He is now resting peacefully with his son, George; brothers, Stanley and Nick; and sisters, Kathleen and Mary. As a Veteran of WWII, Gust fought bravely for his country. He worked in various positions in Pittsburgh well into his 80's. Gust was known for his beautiful smile, kind heart and passionate stories. He will be missed by all who knew him. Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation one hour prior to 11 a.m. services on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 419 Dithridge St. Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
