GARY M. WINTERHALTER Age 71, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. Gary was the beloved husband of Carol Winterhalter for 50 years; father of Megan Lizewski (Bob), Jonathan Winterhalter, and Christian Winterhalter; and loving grandfather of Emma, Abby, and Beaux Lizewski. Growing up in Shaler, he joined his parents in designing kitchens, before moving to a career in marketing. Gary devoted his retirement to advocating on behalf of universal acceptance by co-founding the Cranberry Area Diversity Network. Through his efforts, as the community's heart of diversity, he worked passionately and with great conviction to unite the residents of Cranberry Township and surrounding areas, no matter culture, race, religion, age, gender, or disability. Resulting from his desire to promote appreciation of difference, and his commitment to spreading understanding and acceptance, he joined others to lift barriers that might separate us from each other. Gary will be sadly missed by his loving family and the community he so willingly served. For those wishing to honor Gary, please consider a donation to the Verland Foundation, Sewickley, PA. JOSEPH F. LADISLAW, JR. Passed away peacefully on May 18, 2019, at the age of 71. Joe was loved and will be missed by his younger brothers, Robert and Gary; several cousins; and many friends. Joe was born in Manhattan, New York City, in 1948. He lived in the New York City area, Long Island and New Jersey, before settling in Pittsburgh later in life. Joe graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with an accounting degree, and was employed as an accountant by various companies, including New American Library, before he was forced to retire due to serious health issues. ALVIN DORSEY RAY SMITH Age 76, of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on May 25, 2019. Formerly of Doddridge County, Alvin resided with his daughter and her children over these last several months. Alvin was preceded in death by wife, the late Brenda Smith; parents, Ralph and Mona Smith, as well as siblings, Roena Mulac and Francis G Smith. He is survived by son, Shawn Smith; daughter, Shelley (Smith) Hoffman; siblings, Rose Ann Grimenstein and LaVonne Keller; three grandchildren, Jordan, Taylor, and Allison Hoffman; as well as many nieces and nephews. Alvin was a hardworking man and dedicated to his family. In addition to serving in the US Army, he held many jobs from working in West Virginia coal mines, the railway systems, US steel mills, and G.C. Murphys to serving his community as a correctional officer at the Allegheny County Jail. He was a member of the Elizabeth Township Sportsman Club and he enjoyed bowling and putzing in his lawn and garden. His family and friends could depend on him in times of need. Alvin will be missed by many, but he joined his beloved wife who captured and kept his heart. UMBERTO FRATANGELI Age 85, of Aliquippa passed away with his devoted family by his side on May 22, 2019. He was born May 24, 1933 in Frosinone, Italy and was the son of the late Benedetto and Paolina (Dore) Fratangeli. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Fratangeli. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Rina (Antonucci) Fratangeli; three children, Nick Fratangeli, John Fratangeli and Sandy Timmons, Lorena and Anthony DiNunno; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Umberto is also survived by five brothers, a sister and eight sisters-in-law. Angel was the last surviving child of Lena (Caputo) and Giulio DeMaglio. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Anthony DeMaglio and her sister, Mary Nicholson. Beloved wife for 64 years of the late Anthony Madia and loving companion of Julius “Chuck” Lamorte; mother of Ronald (Donna) Madia, Gene (Marie) Madia, Tonilynn (Madia) Jackson and Patricia (William) Callan; dear grandmother of Ronald, Robert, Gina, Angela, Marlo, Dana, Carmen, William, Lori, Timothy and Christopher; great-grandmother of 28 and one great-great-granddaughter. Archangel was a graduate of Westinghouse High School. In addition to raising her children, she enjoyed singing, dancing, playing cards and picnicking with close friends. Angel's life was remarkably blessed. She was filled with joy and always extended it to everyone around her. Angel's laughter was infectious and, best of all, she had an amazingly long time to enjoy it. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
