RODNEY DeROY McCLAIN Was born on July 29, 1960 to Edward Wade McClain and Geraldine Anita McClain in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Wilkinsburg Senior High School, he went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. Rodney fell asleep in death on July 4, 2019. KENT A. EDWARDS Age 69, of Pittsburgh and Confluence, passed away on July 20, surrounded by his family after a valiant medical struggle. Kent was born in Sharon, PA, on September 3, 1949 to Reese and Geraldine Edwards, both deceased. He attended Kent State University, graduating with a double major in Philosophy and Architecture. After 30 years as an architect in Ohio as well as Pennsylvania, where he served as President of AIA Pittsburgh, Kent and his wife, Cathy, started a Community Development consulting firm. He was also a proud member of Leadership Pittsburgh, Class VII. Kent is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Cathy McCollom; his sons, Ben (Sarah) and Adam (Kate); daughter, Jennifer Dunn; his two adored grandchildren, Lily and Hunter; as well as his sister, Karen Thomson and brother-in-law, Bob of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Kimberly and Richard Cravy and Michael and Debbie McCollom, as well as many nieces and nephews. ROY V. NOLL On Friday, July 19, 2019, Roy V. Noll, husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 80. Roy was born on July 8, 1939, in Hedgesville, West Virginia, to the late Turner and Iota Noll. He attended West Virginia University and served in the Air National Guard. He worked at Westinghouse as an electric/field service engineer for almost 50 years. He also served on the Harmar Township Water Authority. On April 25, 1964, he married Barbara Dailey. They raised two sons, Matthew and Joseph, and one daughter, Amy. Roy was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending many hours tending to his garden. He had a passion for repairing and restoring various equipment. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Bruce and Eileen. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his three children, Matthew (Pam), Joseph, and Amy (Dwight) Hare; his grandchildren, Grace, Turner, Matthew, and Andrew; and six siblings, George, John, Paul, Carolyn, Lucille, and Ruth. MARION NOWAK Age 85, of Scott Twp., on Monday, July 22, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Maureen O'Neill Nowak; son of the late Walter and Rose Hartz Nowak; loving father of Kathleen (Edward) Hirata and Colleen (Daniel) Michalski; brother of the late Walter Nowak; dear grandfather of Faith, Luke, Nicholas, Catherine, Lauren. Mr Nowak was a graduate of Carnegie High School and was employed by Superior Steel. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy and a yeoman having trained in the Great Lakes, San Francisco, Pearl Harbor, and Japan on submarines. He served on the US Wahoo. He studied at Duquesne University on the GI Bill with a BS in journalism. He was on the golf team. Marion also did work for the MDA as public relations manager for eight years organizing backyard carnival fundraising ideas where kids who held carnivals got to ride on the Goodship Lollipop and entered into a raffle to get on the Paul Shannon show. He also took MDA children to Pittsburgh Pirates games and Christmas parties. Marion was widowed at a young age, but managed to raise two daughters as a single father. He then went on the work for Centre Video, based in State College, PA, and managed the Pittsburgh area. With cable TV just starting out in the 1970's, he went on to work for TCI, where he eventually became the northeast regional manager before being named a Vice President. After growing the organization he retired in 1995. Church and faith were huge in his life. He was a loyal friend to many throughout his life. He was known to be very generous to many individuals and organizations. He loved golf and read several newspapers a day. He enjoyed spending a lot of time in Hilton Head, SC, and enjoyed the water and the beach. He was an amazing father and grandfather. He had many loyal friends, neighbors, coworkers, golf buddies, church friends and lifelong friends from Carnegie. He never forgot his roots and always supported his church, Catholic education, St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Carnegie Library. EUGENE F. MALONEY Mr. Maloney was Executive Vice President and Corporate Counsel of Federated Investors, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA, a member of the Executive Committee, and has been employed by the firm for forty-seven years. Through Mr. Maloney's efforts, Federated Investors is responsible for virtually all state legislation permitting public entities to use money market funds to manage their liquidity. Mr. Maloney was a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Fiduciary Studies and was appointed by the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate as a member of the Industry Sector Working Group on Financial Services. For 26 years, Mr. Maloney was an instructor in trust and securities law at Boston University School of Law, has been a visiting instructor at the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council and the American Bankers Association's National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University, and participated in programs leading to the designation of Certified Trust and Financial Advisor. Mr. Maloney also served as an expert witness in both judicial and legislative settings on matters relating to fiduciary compensation, will construction, and prudent investing. In February, 2011, Mr. Maloney was honored by the Trust Education Foundation, which established and funded the Eugene Maloney Trust Scholarship at Campbell University in North Carolina. SHIRLEY S. (SUMMER) GALLAGHER Of Rockwood, Somerset County, formerly of Forest Hills, age 91, died peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2019, with her family at her bedside. Beloved wife of the late Ralph E. Gallagher for 65 years; loving mother of Dana (Norm) Tramba, William (Carol) Gallagher, Susan (Mark) Glew, James (Carol) Gallagher, Edward Gallagher, Janet (Bruce) Sivak and Barbara (Jeff) Byers. Shirley is also survived by her brother, Robert (late Peg) Summer; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was a career homemaker and volunteered while raising her children as a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed swimming and many types of crafting. Shirley was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Forest Hills Fire Department and the Order of the Eastern Star. Friends are welcome on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at PATRICK T. EDWARD ROBERT HALDIE Age 64, of Penn Twp., formerly of Turtle Creek, passed away on July 21, 2019. He was born on May 18, 1955, in Pittsburgh, to the late Edward and Elizabeth (McWilliams) Haldie. Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Beth (Montgomery) Haldie; loving children, Edward Allan Haldie and Heather Mae Haldie; sisters, Rae Ryan, Mary (Bob) Wesoloskie, and Carol (Chris) Rutledge; many adoring nieces and nephews; and his beloved family dog, Dakota. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beth (Ken) Jurgovsky. Ed retired as a tool and die maker with General Motors Fisher Body Plant, where he was a proud committeeman and member of the UAW Union. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing cards. Ed was a loving and gentle man, who will long be remembered and missed by his family and friends. Friends will be received Wednesday, July 24, 2019, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at LINDSAY-JOBE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City. MARY F. (HARTSOCK) LINSENBIGLER A lifelong resident of Turtle Creek, age 66, died peacefully at home with her family on Monday, July 22, 2019. Beloved wife of Thomas J. Linsenbigler, Sr. for 50 years; loving mother of Thomas J., Jr. (Terri), Steve and Bill (Tanya) Linsenbigler; sister of Robert (Janet) Hartsock, Sharon (Michael) Daily and the late Diane (surviving spouse, Howard) Arbster; also survived by ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mary was a retired police dispatcher for Turtle Creek Police Department with 35 years of service. She was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Turtle Creek Fire Department. Mary loved to play bingo and visit casinos. However, most important to Mary was being able to spend time with her grandchildren. Friends are welcome on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at PATRICK T.
