Arlene earned a Masters Degree in Religious Education from the University of Pittsburgh at the age of 40 and continued to pursue Jewish education for the remainder of her life. She was a Principal, Educator and Administrator at Beth Samuel Congregation for ten years. She was a member and Co-Chair of The Garden Club for four years. She was on the Executive Committee and a longtime member of Congregation Beth Shalom. She was a teacher for many years and also tutored elementary school children. She taught at Osher as well as being very active in the resettlement of Russian Jewry. She was an active volunteer for NCJW and took art classes at the JCC for many years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin, and previous member of the former St. Boniface Church of Penn, where she was active in the Christian Mothers, Funeral Choir, and the Silver Threads. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Rodgers; a half-brother Kenneth Nolan and a half-sister Janet Thomas. He is the son of the late Sarah and Edward Keck. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne of 62 years. Thomas was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles, James, Jack, Victor, Larry and Helen. Thomas was a devoted Catholic and proud member of St. Louise de Marillac. Thomas proudly served in the Korean War as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Thomas enjoyed 39 years as an employee with Travelers Insurance. Thomas enjoyed time at the Meadows and playing cards. Thomas cherished spending time with family and friends. Thomas' love for Special Olympics was most important to him, because of his son Joseph. Thomas will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Joan was grandmother to 16 and great-grandmother to 15 (+2). Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Anna Robesh, and her twin, Jean Heidenreich Reubelt and sister, Betty Wilhelm. She was aunt and friend to many. Joan was a remarkable and energetic woman. She lived life to the fullest and never wanted to miss a thing! She was an active member of Annunciation and Incarnation of the Lord Parishes, both on the Northside. Joan was a resident of Cumberland Woods (Allison Park) and kept the staff at Garden Way Place (Hermitage) on their toes. Although Joan's life events were confused at the end, she left with spry and grace. She walked with purpose, cared about others and lived a good life. She will be deeply missed.
