MARLENE (KAPELUCK) HALUSZCZAK Age 87, lifelong resident of Carnegie, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 listening to the Divine Liturgy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which she cherished. She is survived by children, Paula (son in-law, John) Howe, Melissa and Stephen; grandsons, Ivan, Demetri and Nikolai; and an extended family of beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Marlene was a devoted member of SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Carnegie, a dedicated mother, and a caregiver who always could bring comfort and a smile to whomever she visited. She was fiercely proud of her Ukrainian heritage, but was ever an American first who dearly loved her country and the ideals for which it stands. Those who knew her will remember her beautiful soprano voice, which she lent to the choir at SS Peter and Paul. She will also be honored for her decades-long service as the Sunshine Committee Chair of the local chapter of the Ukrainian Orthodox League (UOL) through which she touched innumerable lives with regular greeting cards that were a concrete and tangible sign of being remembered and cared for. Marlene was a consummate organizer and performed most of her work behind the scenes, ensuring that things ran smoothly at home and at the church hall, and wherever else she saw a need. Preceding her in passing were sisters, Mary (Peyton), Ann, Helen (Bogdon), Eva, Olga, and Jeanne (Haritan); and brothers, Frank, John, John, Steve, Michael, Jr.; and her brother who died shortly after birth before he could be named. RUBY MARIE (JONES) TIMBLIN Age 89, previously of Allison Park, passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, in Mentor, OH. She was the beloved mother of Kirk L. Timblin and Karen Timblin Tyler; and grandmother of Jessica Kupar (husband, Chad), Bobby Timblin (wife, Jessica), and Courtney Tyler. Her legacy lives on in her great-grandchildren, Alexis, Bryce, Shane, Mason and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reta and Horace Jones; her husband, Joseph H. Timblin; and her sister, Audrey Ruccio. Ruby spent all of her working career in nursing, first being commended for her work at the Polio Clinic with Dr. Salk in Pittsburgh, then as a surgical nurse at Pittsburgh Presbyterian, then finally as a school nurse for the Hampton School district in Allison Park. She never lost her love of learning, proven by the fact that she earned her Master's Degree at Slippery Rock University back in the late 60's when it wasn't fashionable for women to seek higher education. RITA H. (RUNT) MORRISSEY After a period of declining health on Monday, July 29, 2019, Rita H. (Runt) Morrissey, age 97 of Wexford, formerly of Ross Twp. Rita was born November 15, 1921, in Irwin and was the daughter of the late Matthew and Marcella (Lang) Runt. After graduating from Norwin High School, Rita worked at Lang's Hardware and Keystone Federal Savings & Loan in Sharpsburg where she met her future husband, Joseph T. Morrissey. She worked for the Civil Defense Association in Sharpsburg during the early years of World War II and then moved to Ft. Benning, GA to work as a civilian in the typing pool on the army base while her husband was stationed there. Rita returned to Irwin while Joe was deployed in Europe. Rita and Joe came back to Sharpsburg and then moved to Ross Twp. in May 1947 to raise their three children. While living in the same house for 66 years and raising her family, she also worked at Thrift Drug Co. and Gimbles Department Store when McKnight Road was becoming a major shopping mecca in the North Hills. Her beloved husband, Joe predeceased Rita in 1987. Rita was also predeceased by her brothers, Ted, Al, and Jack. She is survived by her three children, Tom (Josefina) of Monroeville, Gary (Kim) of Golden, CO, and Sherron (Patrick Lynch) of Wexford; five grandchildren, Victor (Connie) of Lawrenceville, Marisol of Washington, DC, Steven (Miriam) of Philadelphia, Bryan (Misha) of Cambridge, MA, and Scott (Brittany) of Golden, CO. EDWARD MICHAEL MOONIS Age 69, of White Oak, died Saturday, July 27, 2019. He was born in McKeesport on December 6, 1949 and is the son of the late James Edward and Zona McCarthy Moonis. Edward served during the Vietnam Era in the Marines. Until his retirement, he was a firefighter for the County of Allegheny which included working at Greater Pittsburgh Airport and Allegheny County Airport. His hobbies included turning some wrenches and making some sawdust. He is survived by his wife, Alice Burris Moonis; sons, Don Edward (Ruth) Moonis of Frisco, TX and Michael Moonis of McKeesport; stepchildren, Christine Steighner of McKeesport, Mary Harbadin of Forest Hills, and Christopher Harris of White Oak. He is also survived by five grandchildren. Services were held at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131, (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177).
