Cherished husband of Karen Desiderio; beloved father of Sara Dreger and Michael (Dawn) Desiderio; dear grandfather of Amanda and Nicolas Dreger, Raquel, Robert and Camille Redman; great-grandfather of Salvatore, Aleida and Fiona; also survived by his brother, Mark Desiderio; numerous cousins and many friends. Mike was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, member of Delta Phi Fraternity. He had a great love for golf with associations at Ligonier Country Club, Diamond Run, and his Tuesday night golf league at Quicksilver. Mike has been employed at Caldwell Windoware in the West End for over 20 years, currently had been semi-retired. RICHARD T. DUNN Age 91, of Carlisle, PA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died on Monday, July 22, 2019, at the Church of God Home in Carlisle, PA. He was born in Pittsburgh on October 10, 1927, to the late Joseph and Martha Dreschler Dunn and was preceded by his loving wife, Joanne Mitchell Dunn who died on July 14, 2019. Richard was a mechanical engineer and had worked for the Gimbels Dept. Store in Pittsburgh for over 25 years. He was a graduate of South Hill H.S. and the University of Pittsburgh receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Airborne Unit during WWII. Richard and his wife Joanne were former members of The Church of The Resurrection in Brookline, St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, Bethel Park, PA and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carlisle, PA. Richard was an avid die-hard Pittsburgh Sports Fan. He really enjoyed a vast genre of music, the blues, jazz, the 70's, and he taught himself to read music and eventually was a self-taught organ player. Richard and Joanne are survived by two daughters, Pamela M. (Michael) Haupt of Carlisle, PA, Laura E. (John) Sheehan of East Greenville, PA; two sons, Timothy (Michelle) of Pleasant Hills, PA, Brian (Jacqueline) of Brookline, PA. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a daughter, Jennifer Dunn; sister, Alberta Lindberg; and four brothers, Paul, James, Joseph and Carl Dunn. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 2, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 87 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, PA with Father Donald H. Bender as Celebrant. There will be a public viewing on Thursday, August 1, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the HOFFMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 2020 West Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA and on Friday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to Mass. She was born November 29, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to The late Jacob and Hazel Louise (LaVelle) Gheldberg. She married Robert Errot Letterle on September 17, 1949. They were blessed with nearly sixty-three years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 25, 2012. Mary Lou is survived by her children, John C. Letterle and wife, Sondra of Horseshoe, North Carolina, James D. Letterle of Joliet, Illinois, Robin Gelfius and husband, Glenn of Dahlgren, Illinois, and Renee Baldwin of Hagerstown, Maryland; grandchildren, Mary Helen Letterle, Glen Letterle, Haley Letterle, John Letterle, Christina Letterle, Sunny Letterle, Paulette Halvax, Dustin Letterle, Cole Gelfius, Lucas Ward, Jennifer Ward, Aimee Jo Ward, and Meghan Richards; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Steele of Arlington, Texas; brothers-in-law, Gene O'Neal of Oceanside, California, Louis Letterle and wife, Anita of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews. JOSEPH BORRELLI Age 98, lifelong resident of Glassport, passed away on Tuesday, July 30th, 2019 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born September 26, 1920 to the late Nicolangelo and Giulia Borrelli. Joseph was the loving husband of the late Sally Sulesky. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann (Joe) Maher of Endicott, NY; grandchildren, Eric (Michelle) Maher of Endicott NY, Beth (Tim) Fives of York, PA, and Patrick (Shivani) Maher of Santa Barbara, CA; great-grandchildren, Julia, Ethan, Natalie, Kathryn and Joshua, and many nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis (Stella), Anthony (Marie), Vincent (Susie), and Nick (Marilyn), and sister, Mary (Duane) Molinaro. Joe served in the Navy in the Caribbean during World War II, as a Radio Operator for the Air Control Tower. He was also previously employed at P&LE Railroad, Peoples Gas company, and owned Borrelli's Café for 32 years in Glassport. He was a member of the Glassport American Legion, Sons of Italy (past president three times), and faithful member of the Queen of The Rosary Church. Beloved wife of the late Clarence “Spud” Sabol who was called home to the Lord four months ago; they were married for 67 years. She was born in Rankin to the late Matthew and Catherine Balkovic; dear mother of Patti (Mike) Flister, Gregg (Ada) Sabol, Lori (Mark) Baird, Julie Sabol, Susie (Chuck) Murn, and Rick (Jodi) Sabol; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sister of Kathryn (Ted) Burns and the late Dolores (Robert) Karish and the late Matthew Balkovic; sister-in-law of Roberta Balkovic; and numerous nieces and nephews. Millie was retired after many years from Kopp Glass. She enjoyed baking, reading, gardening, and all things pink. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially loved cuddling her grandbabies. MICHAEL JOSEPH GOODRICH Hardworking, proud American and Navy veteran, of Gibsonia, PA passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at age 66. Proud father of the two loves of his life, his daughters, Kelly Elizabeth Goodrich, Esquire, and Bridget Ann (Greg Morrow); proud, loving Pap Pap of Macallan Robert Morrow and Mary Grace Ann Morrow. Survived by friend and mother of his children, Mary Jean Goodrich and longtime companion, Sandra Heidi Hower. Preceded in death by loving parents, Mary E. Joyce and Joseph H. Goodrich and brothers, Jerry and Larry Goodrich. Survived by baby sister, Mary Jo Goodrich and best friend and big brother, William F. (Billy) Goodrich (Beth Lazzara) and best friend and baby brother, John P. (Jackie) Goodrich (Nancy). Michael will be sadly missed by his loving and grateful nieces and nephews, Jane Goodrich (Brad Shay), Jerry Goodrich (Jennifer), Amelia Goodrich (Conrad Waite), James Braunlich, Joseph Braunlich, Maggie Sabol, Lucia Goodrich, Piper White, and one and only goddaughter, Elizabeth Goodrich. HELEN B. (YURKO) MURAWSKI Early in the morning on Monday, July 29, 2019, the Lord took Helen into his arms and carried her home. Born on March 27, 1924 to Andrew and Julia Yurko, she was the sixth born child of their nine children. She was 95 years old. Formerly of McKees Rocks, PA where she resided for 89 years, she has lived with her daughter in Cranberry Township from 2013 until her passing. Beloved wife, of 38 years, to Anthony G. Murawski, who preceded her in death. Devoted mother of Joan Wadowsky, (Robert); grandmother to Lauren Panteliemonitis (Spyros) of Athens, Greece and Jacqueline Wadowsky of Cranberry Township; great-grandmother to Ioanna and Christina Panteliemonitis; sister to John “Jay” Yurko, Ann Bacher (Charles), Mary Novelselski (Metro), Jospeh R. Yurko, Andrew P. Yurko (Ann Patrick), Josephine Jasen (John), Margaret Rectenwald (Charles), and George A. Yurko, all of whom preceded her in death. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lillian Cornish, of San Diego, CA and Bernadine Sanders of Kennedy Township. Her siblings blessed her with many nieces and nephews all of whom she dearly loved. She graduated from Miles Bryan High School in McKees Rocks, Class of 1942 and worked for the Dravo Corporation during the war years. She retired from GNC in 1987. A member of SS Cyril and Methodius R.C. Church, now closed, she was active in the PTG, and the Contemporary Choir. She loved playing the lotto, going to the casino, and playing bingo. She was of Slovak heritage and strove to pass on the Slovak holiday traditions, especially Slovak food. “I could eat pierogies every day” she would frequently say. She loved birds especially Cardinals and would enjoy watching them at the bird feeder. She was also an avid gardener, baker and cake decorator. Church, 343 Forest Grove Road, (Kennedy Township) Coraopolis, PA 15108 on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mark's Cemetery. GREGORY J. SMITH Age 62, formerly of New Brighton, PA, passed away on July 29, 2019 at North Hills Rehab. Born June 3, 1957, beloved son of Mary-Jo Menner Smith and Edward P. Smith. Greg had a wonderful sense of humor, optimism, a positive attitude, and was a model for "his journey of hope". He lived a life full of joy and pursued many interests although he was born with cerebral palsy. He was an avid fan of the New Brighton athletic teams, the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins and greatly enjoyed attending numerous games. His early education started in New Brighton Area Schools, Easter Seal Society in Beaver, graduating from high school at D.T. Watson Home in Leetsdale, PA. While residing in Natrona Heights at a Verland A.R.C. Home, he completed his Associate Degree in Journalism at the Community College of Allegheny County, Boyce Campus, with the support of aides and staff. Gregory enjoyed writing poetry, song lyrics, and reading weekly to a "tender care" preschool class (via his voice simulator), attending rock concerts, and Mass each Sunday. In addition to his parents, Greg is survived by his brother, Edward P. Smith, Jr. (Janet) and his sister, Breen Smith (Joni); his aunts and uncles, Theresa Spagnolo, Joe Menner (Arlene), Paul Menner (Barb), and Jerome F. Smith (Ingrid). ROSE MARIE ROMETO A longtime resident of Plum Borough, died Monday, July 29, 2019 at the age of 98, at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, OH. Born March 26, 1921 to Joseph P. Grill and Michelina (Colombasso) Grill. She was a graduate of Springdale High School and Slippery Rock Normal School (Slippery Rock University) were she received her Bachelor of Science in elementary education. She married William B. Rometo on February 23, 1946 at Mount St. Peter Church where they were members all of their lives. Rose was also a life member of Mount St. Peter's Addolorata Society. For 27 years, she taught school, first in the West Deer School District and then the Penn Hills School District in grades eight and five and for over 20 years 1st grade. Rose was a loving wife who supported her husband while he coached three sports. She washed the team's uniforms, cooked meals for them and the games officials at her home, and attended the majority of Willie's sporting events, especially the football games. Rose is best known for her “Italian cooking” and for all the cards and letters she wrote to friends and relatives. She never missed sending a card for a birthday or special occasion. She will be forever loved and missed by her family, Michele Spence of Wheeling, WV, Arlene (Dennis) Bruderly of Alliance, OH, Marlene (William) Johnson of Georgetown, SC, William (Maryann) Rometo of Plum, Bob (Peggy) Rometo of Beverly Hills, CA; her twelve grandchildren, Natalie, Sean, Michael, Kurt, Jennifer, Mario, Gino, Carlo, Sergio, Marco, Renzo and Risa; as well as her fifteen great-grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, William Rometo on December 8, 2007; her parents; her brothers, Charles and Anthony Grill; and her sisters, Mary Vranesh and Helen Massimino. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to Alliance Hospice, 2461 W.
