BRUCE DEBORAH ANN (KALANONVICZ) Age 59, of Elizabeth, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Beloved wife of 27 years to Harry W. Bruce, Jr.; loving mother of Robert (Michelle) Kepics, Joshua (girlfriend, Kelly) Bruce, Andy (Tracey) Bruce, and William Bruce; cherished grandmother of Lyla Kepics, Andrew Bruce, Nathan Bruce, and Branson Bruce; sister of Darla Kalanonvicz, Donna Lukis and Doreen (Anthony) Romano; daughter of her late parents, Walter and Ethyl Kalanonvicz. Deborah loved taking pictures of Lake Erie, her boy's baseball games and family functions. She was a member of New Hope Assembly and Rivers Edge Churches and she worked as a secretary at two different churches; Bethesda and Fells Methodist Church. She enjoyed her work as a cosmetologist and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Survived by sons, Jerry (Carolyn), South Bend, IN, Gary (Elaine), Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Sharon Gaskill, Chillicothe, OH; three grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; predeceased by wives, Rema Byrd and Geraldine “Jeri” (Benson), brothers Lawrence, Welda Jr., Harold; a sister, Hazel Sweet; and son-in-law Charles Gaskill. Retired vice-president, Finance and Administration for Wear-Ever Aluminum, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA and Alcoa, TN. He was employed by Alcoa for 38 years. In 1981, he was appointed Judicial Administrator for the Ross County (OH) Court System until 1988. WWII M/SGT Army Veteran; member American Legion, F & AM, Aladdin Shrine, Walnut St. UMC, Chairman Adena Health System Board, received the Silver Beaver Award from Boy Scouts of America, the Scouting Torch Award and the Liberty Bell Award from the Ross County Bar Association in 1988, was a Paul Harris Fellow (Rotary) and Patron of the Chillicothe Rotary Foundation. Born on September 5, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Frank Swanson and Elizabeth “Betty” (Soltis) Swanson, who survives, of Charleroi. Ann was one of the first nurses to get a BSN from Duquesne University. She worked at McGee Hospital and over her career she worked in many Pittsburgh hospitals. In addition to her mother, Ann is survived by her brother, Frank G. Swanson, of Charleroi; sisters, Kathleen Swanson Steitler (Robert W.), of Aiken, SC, and Mary Beth Swanson (David Praisler), of Florida; uncle, Jack Soltis; nieces and nephews, Laura Steitler Panzer (Hadley), R. Seth Steitler, and Daniel W. Steitler (Hannah); and great-nephews, Alexe and Ellison Panzer. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a brother, John Swanson. DAY RICHARD ALAN Age 53, beloved husband, brother, and friend went home to be with the Lord suddenly on Sunday, April 22, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Rachel W. Day; sister, Jennifer Day; and father, Richard Day as well as many friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte (Burrucker) Day. Richard was born November 30, 1964 in New York City and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated Cum Laude from Northgate H.S. and was a star athlete on the Northgate Flames Varsity football team. He loved the game of football and was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Richard was nothing short of extraordinary. He graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1986 and served in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot and proudly served his country in Operation Desert Storm. He was honored with many Army medals to include the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. He was honorably discharged from the Army at the rank of Captain. Richard went on to get his MBA and work on Wall Street for AIG and Reader's Digest before relocating to Ohio with his wife to continue his career in finance. He was an active member of Church in the Valley and the West Point Alumni Association. He was brilliant, sophisticated, kind, and loyal beyond measure. He had recently fought his toughest battle against Mantle Cell Lymphoma, a cancer that required a bone marrow transplant. He will be loved and cherished as his passing is immeasurably painful for all who knew him. He was a hero and will be missed more than words can ever express. A service of remembrance with military honors will be held for Richard on Saturday, April 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Church in the Valley, 2241 Everett Rd., Peninsula, OH 44264. ROHRER STEPHEN M. “STEVE” Age 71, of Penn Hills, unexpectedly, on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Husband of the late Kathleen "Kathy" (DiCaprio) Rohrer; father of Kimberly Rohrer (Mark Goucher) and Michele Rohrer (John Kuhn); grandfather of Randy (Brittany Allison) Geiselhart, Ciarra Carrozzi, Zachary, and Jacob Goucher; brother of the late Tia Rohrer; brother-in-law of Lorraine Meredith, Cindy (Jack) Petrick, and Pat Meredith; also survived by nieces, nephews, and furry friend, Zoe. He retired from NAPA after 38 years. Steve was a member of Masonic Lodge #546 and loved classic cars, attending and entering car shows, and watching NASCAR. TOKOS GABRIEL S., Jr. Age 75, a lifelong resident of Coraopolis, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018, at Allegheny General Hospital. The last of the Tokos Family, he was born in Sewickley on August 15, 1942, one of two sons to the late Agnes (Muslick) and Gabriel S. Tokos, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald L. Tokos. His family was made of friends, among them being Bob Mac Dowell and Ray Rakowsky. “Gab“, a 1960 graduate of McKees Rocks High School, had worked for PGT Trucking in Monaca and Penn Tank Lines, Coraopolis. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp during Vietnam and was a member of the American Legion #0618, Stowe Township. CONLEY Dr. THOMAS L. Of Sitka, AK, died on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife, Marylyn Burens Conley; his son, Dr. Alexander Conley and his wife, Dr. Alysia Marino of Colorado; his daughter, Anya of Sitka; his sister, Judith Stafford of Pittsburgh; his brother, James of Tampa, FL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence J. and Margaret McGinley Conley; and his oldest brother, Joseph J. Conley. Tom was born and raised in Pittsburgh and attended South Hills Catholic High School and Duquesne University. He received his medical degree in 1969 from the Pritzer School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. After serving in the Navy, Tom accepted a position with the Public Health Department in Ketchikan, AK, and later moved to Sitka where he was affiliated with SEARHC, the South East Alaska Regional Health Consortium. Tom, who was a board certified pediatrician, served on the State of Alaska Medical Licensing Board and on numerous school boards. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
