ANDERCHAK CATHERINE R. “KAY” (RONEY) A resident of LGAR in Turtle Creek, formerly of North Braddock, age 99, on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2018. Wife of the late William Anderchak; beloved mother of Kathy (Bob) Sadusky of North Huntingdon, Maryanne (late Fred) Bruce of Plum, Edward and James Anderchak, both of Plum. Kay is also survived by her sister, Genevieve McDonough of North Braddock; ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph Roney, James Roney, Mary Jane Roney, Dorothy Martha, Mercedes Browning, Eugene and Jack Roney. Kay was a woman who was filled with her faith and practiced it fervently. She also was noted for her signature red devil's food cake. Friends are welcome on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at PATRICK T. SOBEHART DORIS A. (ATMANCHIK) Age 71, of West Deer Township, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at her home. She was born October 5, 1946, in Pittsburgh to the late John G. and Anna L. (McChesney) Atmanchik. Doris was a 1964 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, East Liberty and a 1968 graduate of Mt. Mercy College, Pittsburgh receiving her bachelor's degree in music and primary education. Doris was a retired teacher, teaching over 20 years for Transfiguration R.C. School, Russellton, prior she taught music at Penn Hills and Pre-School at several other schools in the area. She was an active volunteer with the Nancy Heil Homeless Ministry for many years. She enjoyed listening to music, playing her piano, keeping in touch with her former students and especially spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Richard E. Sobehart; her children, Jennifer A. (Dan) Maltese of West Deer and R. Jason (Jennifer) Sobehart of West Deer; her grandchildren, Caroline, Sophia, Joshua and Gabriel Maltese; and her sisters, Mary Ann Weber of O'Hara Township and Denise Ann Jones of West Deer. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Albert received a Bachelor's and Master's degree from California State University and served as a teacher for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman. Albert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rita; and son, Richard (Kimberly); and grandchildren, Haley and Andy. BIEGLER LYNNE WEBBER Age 71, of Squirrel Hill, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, after a three year battle with pancreatic cancer. Lynne was born in Pittsburgh, PA, to Elizabeth Hazeltine Webber and William Sloan Webber on November 6, 1946. She grew up in Emsworth, attended Avonworth High School and earned music degrees at Westminster Choir College and the University of Pittsburgh. She went on to a distinguished career as a concert soprano and voice educator. Lynne was noted for world premier performances of 20th century music including Phonemena (Milton Babbit), SCAT (David Stock), Vazena (Reza Vali), Jubilus (Gheorghe Costinescu) and Nothing but Love Songs (Anthony Korf), and gave frequent performances with the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble. She was a founding voice teacher at CAPA High School and gave over 50 years of dedicated service as a church soloist and choir member, at Ben Avon Presbyterian Church and Sacred Heart Church. Her extraordinary musical talents were complemented by keen interest in Native American, African and Asian cultures and spiritual practices, including Qigong, Tai Chi and Reiki, and she traveled extensively in China, Japan and Europe. Lynne is survived by her husband, Larry; son, Matthew; daughter-in-law, Simone (Costa); her brothers, Bill (Nancy) and Tom (Rose); and sisters, Polly and Kathy (Mitch); nieces, Emily, Sarah (Shane), Elizabeth, and Abby; and nephews, Scott (Elizabeth), Jamie, Jesse, Thomas, Andy, and Will. Visitation will be held at MCCABE BROS., INC. BERMAN NORTON LAWRENCE Aged 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2018 in New Orleans, LA. Norton was born March 3, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Jack Berman and Rose Berman nee Schreiber. In addition to his parents, Norton was preceded in death by his brother Alan Berman (Joyce) and daughter Marsha Berman. He is survived by his sons Evan Berman (Dira) and Eric Berman (Diana), sons of Bernice Rinsma-Lehman, and his daughter Lauren N. Berman, daughter of Susan Berman nee Silverman. Norton was grandfather to Gillian Berman, Daniella Berman, and Naomi and Melanie Berman. A native of Pittsburgh, he received both his Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. He and his wife, Bernice, lived in the city while he worked briefly as a lawyer while earning his Master's degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Pittsburgh's GSPIA program. Leaving the practice of law for work in economic development in the late 1960's, his career took him and wife, Susan, from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Washington D.C. to the Peace Corps in Liberia and Botswana, and then to the Michigan Commerce department. In 1978, he and Susan moved to Papua New Guinea where Norton was trade secretary for the newly independent government, then back to Michigan in 1982 as the director of economic development for the state. Following stints in Rhode Island and New Jersey in similar positions, Norton returned to Michigan in 1986, where he founded his economic development consulting firm, the BermanGroup, LLC. The BermanGroup, LLC was hired by USAID to work in the Czech Republic and went on to run projects throughout Central and Eastern Europe. After 10-plus years working and traveling in the region with companion, Dottie Stephenson, she and Norton returned stateside, settling in New Orleans where he continued to work in development, most notably for St. Joseph's Seminary College. Norton had a life-long appreciation for both classical music and contemporary art. He served as executive director of the American Craft Council, President of the Board of Pewabic Pottery in Detroit, Michigan, and was an avid supporter of the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans Friends of Music, and the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans. Friends may meet at RALPH SCHUGAR CHAPEL, INC., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 9 a.m. and then proceed to B'Nai Israel Cemetery for 10 a.m. Graveside Services. STUDNICKI MARGARET B. On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, of Zelienople, formerly of Bethel Park. Margie was forever proud to be one of the 13 Boyles of Carrick. She met her future husband, Leonard Studnicki, at the St. Anne's Church young adults group in Castle Shannon. They married in 1962, settled in Bethel Park, and raised their family in the house they built, with Margie remaining there among cherished neighbors until after Lennie's death in 2012. Margie was the beloved mother of Diane (Graham) Standish of Zelienople, Susan (Tom) DePra of Wexford, and Nancy (Ed) Komm of Jupiter, FL. She was a devoted Grandma to Erin and Shea Standish and Shannon and Justin Komm, who will always remember the giant chocolate-chip cookies she baked just for them. Daughter of the late Patrick and Agnes (Devlin) Boyle, Margie is survived by her dear brothers, the Rev. Robert J. Boyle of Crafton and James (Kathy) Boyle of Cary, NC. She was also the sister of the late Agnes, Joseph, William, Paul, Regina (“Jean”), Charles (“Rocky”), Raymond, Eugene (“Knute”), Thomas, and Henry (“Hank”) Boyle. What a joyous, card-playing reunion they must be having! Margie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A long-time member of St. Germaine Church, Margie was active in the Ladies of Charity ministry there. She cherished her faith and was always within arm's reach of a rosary. BERMAN NORTON LAWRENCE Aged 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2018 in New Orleans, LA. Norton was born March 3, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Jack Berman and Rose Berman nee Schreiber. In addition to his parents, Norton was preceded in death by his brother Alan Berman (Joyce) and daughter Marsha Berman. He is survived by his sons Evan Berman (Dira) and Eric Berman (Diana), sons of Bernice Rinsma-Lehman, and his daughter Lauren N. Berman, daughter of Susan Berman nee Silverman. Norton was grandfather to Gillian Berman, Daniella Berman, and Naomi and Melanie Berman. A native of Pittsburgh, he received both his Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. He and his wife, Bernice, lived in the city while he worked briefly as a lawyer while earning his Master's degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Pittsburgh's GSPIA program. Leaving the practice of law for work in economic development in the late 1960's, his career took him and wife, Susan, from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Washington D.C. to the Peace Corps in Liberia and Botswana, and then to the Michigan Commerce department. In 1978, he and Susan moved to Papua New Guinea where Norton was trade secretary for the newly independent government, then back to Michigan in 1982 as the director of economic development for the state. Following stints in Rhode Island and New Jersey in similar positions, Norton returned to Michigan in 1986, where he founded his economic development consulting firm, the BermanGroup, LLC. The BermanGroup, LLC was hired by USAID to work in the Czech Republic and went on to run projects throughout Central and Eastern Europe. After 10-plus years working and traveling in the region with companion, Dottie Stephenson, she and Norton returned stateside, settling in New Orleans where he continued to work in development, most notably for St. Joseph's Seminary College. Norton had a life-long appreciation for both classical music and contemporary art. He served as executive director of the American Craft Council, President of the Board of Pewabic Pottery in Detroit, Michigan, and was an avid supporter of the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans Friends of Music, and the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans. Friends may meet at RALPH SCHUGAR CHAPEL, INC., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 9 a.m. and then proceed to B'Nai Israel Cemetery for 10 a.m. Graveside Services.
