After raising her children, Mildred earned her real estate license, worked for Northwood Realty, and also did tax returns for senior citizens for a brief period. As a longstanding member of the Christian Mothers of St. Teresa of Avila Church, Mildred was the chairperson for the Padre Pio Fund-Raising Project (Roses for Peace) which provided financial support to young men attending the seminary in Eastern Europe. The family would like to thank the following caregivers who profoundly loved Mildred and supported her spiritually as well as in daily living: Colleen, Debbie, Mary and Joan. The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Sunrise of McCandless, especially Yvonne and Taylor. The kindness and compassion from the Sunrise employees were truly remarkable gifts. POPOVIC PAUL N. Passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2018, while holding the hand of his loving wife of 25 years, Cheryl Haus. Son of the late Paul R. Popovic and Anne Ursula Rothart Popovic of Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by his daughter Tanna Lambert (Levi), and granddaughter Talyn of Austin, Texas. Also survived by brother David (Colleen) Popovic, nephews Sean and Jordan (Jessica) Popovic of Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by grandson Gunner Lambert. Also survived by sister-in-law Chris (Mickey) Scheafer, Pittsburgh, PA, brother-in-law Chuck (Mary Jane) and their children, Benjamin and Jacqueline Haus of Upper St. Clair, PA. Paul was a graduate of the University of Miami, Fl. and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He played football and baseball for the Miami Hurricanes and went on to play minor-league baseball for the Cleveland Indians' organization. He remained a life-long Cleveland sports fan. Paul spent his career in three-dimensional design and marketing. While his company, the Westerly Group, Inc. focused on the trade show industry, his designs are also found in airport terminals, museums and other public venues. Paul generously shared his talents with local organizations, including St. Paul Cathedral where he chaired the Renovation Committee. As an avid golfer, Paul was a member of Chartiers Country Club, serving on the Board as Chairman of the House Committee and spear-headed the modernization of the club facilities. MONTGOMERY RUTH Ruth Mitchell Montgomery died on June 9, 2018 at Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry Twp. She was born in Stamford, CT in 1916 and grew up in New Haven. During the Depression she moved to Washington DC to work at the Dept. of Agriculture. In the 1960s, Ruth helped found and managed the Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society. After 30 yrs she retired and the PCMS set up a Fellowship String Quartet in her honor for young musicians. She has been living at the Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community for the past nine years. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 71 yrs, Edison. She is survived by her son Douglas of Portland, OR; daughter Katherine of Tiline, KY; and grandsons Andrew and Alexander of Portland, OR. URBAN BARBARA A. Wife, mother, and business woman died peacefully on June 4 in Winter Park, Fl. Known for her wry sense of humor, her generous heart, and quick wit, Barbara studied cosmetology alongside her husband, Bernard; and together they ran a salon in Moon Township, PA. For the past several decades she committed her time to running a business that provided services to senior care facilities. Her devotion to the compassionate care of the elderly was a strong focus in the later part of her life. Mrs. Urban was an avid and accomplished golfer who loved the game and spent many years as an active member of Montour Heights Country Club, in Moon Township, PA, where she also dedicated her time to the Junior Golf Program. In 1989, she recorded a hole-in-one at the Grenelefe Golf Resort in Winter Haven, Fl. Mrs. Urban was born January 19, 1943 in Sewickley, PA, to Michael and Anna (Barna) Galisin. Her father worked at the Pittsburgh Forgings Company and a later as a barber in Coraopolis. Her mother worked in retail and was a homemaker. Her father's work as a barber influenced her decision to pursue cosmetology. She is survived by her husband Bernard R. Urban; sons, Bernard M. Urban and Darrin J. Urban, his wife, Julie A. Urban; and her brother, Robert (Bob) Galisin, his wife Diane Galisin; aunt to Dana, Dawn, Diane, and Rob. She is preceded in death by her brother, Theodore (Teddy) Galisin; aunt to Carla and Michael. HARVANEK WILLIAM L. Age 85, of Oakmont, formerly of Dorseyville, PA passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018. He was born September 16, 1932 in Ohio, to the late William and Mayme (Myers) Harvanek. He was owner of Oakmont Truck Rental and Harvanek Service Center and a member of the Oakmont Rotary where he served as a foreign exchange student liaison, hosting students from various countries and a District Governor in 1991-1992. He was instrumental in arranging for a liver transplant for a child from Venezuela and a cochlear implant for a child from Dominican Republic, treatment that they would not have otherwise received. He created a float for the annual Oakmont Christmas parade entitled We are the World which highlighted his foreign exchange students. His work in the Rotary included many humanitarian efforts. Father of Darlene (Bruce Boone) DeLaPaz of Media and William L. (Susan) Harvanek, Jr. of Concord, NC. Grandfather of Dana DeLaPaz, Jacob Geary, William J. Harvanek, Laurie (Lee) Herendeen, Eric Harvanek, Sara (John) Wood, and Toni (Russell) Dailey; great-grandfather of Becket and Emery Herendeen, Rebecca and Johnny Wood, Anthony, Tobias and Titus Dailey; brother of Richard Harvanek. He is also survived by his companion, Dorothy Wise. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Harvanek, former wife, Bernadette Harvanek, and multiple brothers and sisters. Friends and relatives will be received on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont, PA. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Verona Cemetery, Oakmont.
