SAXON DONALD L . "DON" Age 97, of Mt. Lebanon, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Elaine M. Nelson Saxon; loving father of Judith G. Scott; father-in-law of William C. Scott; devoted grandfather of Jennifer L. Scott; great-grandfather of Payge M. and Ryan J. Scott; brother of the late Richard Saxon. Don was an Army Air Force Veteran of WWII and was a retired engineer for U.S. Steel. He was also a longtime member of Mt. O'BRIEN JOHN W. III "OB" Age 62, of Whitehall, on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Devoted husband of Ann (Thompson) O'Brien for 37 years; son of the late Honorable John W. and Ruth (Vollmer) O'Brien; son-in-law of Charles and Louise Thompson and the late Mary Ann (Riederer) Thompson; brother of Colleen (Greg) Adams, Christy (Paul) Leslie, Patrice (Rex) Felton, Terrance O'Brien, Julie (Steve) Happe, and Robert (Erin) O'Brien; brother-in-law of Paul R. (Teddi) Thompson, David W. (Vicky) Thompson, Joan M. (Brett) Spencer, John C. Thompson, and the late Bruce Alden Thompson; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. John was retired from the Allegheny County Sheriff's Department after 31 years of service. He graduated from Baldwin High School in 1974 and was the starting goaltender for the ?rst ever Baldwin hockey team. His love of hockey continued throughout his life and included coaching the 1988 Baldwin Hockey Team to the Pennsylvania State Championship. John spent time every summer with friends and loved ones at a family cottage on Lake Huron in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He was often seen with his wife, Ann, ?shing in their classic wooden boat, and he would happily admit that it was Ann who usually caught the big ones. From these Michigan roots, John developed a lifelong love for University of Michigan athletics. He also took great pleasure in following the sports activities of his many talented nieces and nephews. SCHERER JOSEPH F., Jr. Age 81, of Hampton Township, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Born March 18, 1937 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Joseph Frank and Esther (Blum) Scherer, Sr. and husband of Deanna P. (Moser) Scherer for more than 50 years until she passed away on July 2, 2011. Joseph was the founder of Joseph Scherer Electrical Contractor in Hampton Township. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Scherer, of Allison Park; son, Joseph W. (Jean) Scherer, of Renfrew; grandchildren, Devin Callahan, Jacob Callahan, Kelsey (Kenji) Kinoshita, Joseph E. (Jamie) Scherer, and Jessica (Randy) Myros; great-grandchildren, Aria and Alanna Kinoshita, Rylie, Reed and Joanna Myros. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brother, Banker C. Beach. ZIEMSKI JOHN F. Age 90, of Beechview, passed peacefully with his family by his side, on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Ann (Krestian) Ziemski; loving mother of John (Diane), Diane Ziemski (Roy Dohne), and the late Janet Valenta; grandfather of Jamie and Colin Valenta, Jessica Albert, Monica Kilcoyne, and Savanna Bell; great- grandfather of Austin, Carlee, Emily, Declan, Iris and Dennis Valenta; brother of Ralph, Josie and the late Vicky, Gertrude, Martha, Mercedes, Rita, and Irene. John retired from Kaufmann's department store after working there for 43 years. He loved all of the Pittsburgh sports teams, was an avid bowler, and was a coach for the Beechview Little League. He greatly enjoyed going to the casino. John was a devoted husband, father, and a man of faith. John and Ann met at the Brashear Settlement when he was a DJ and he danced his way into Ann's heart. BLACKSON DAVID L . Age 87, of Kilbuck Township, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019, peacefully, a victim of Parkinson's Disease, which he fought until the end. He was born February 12, 1931 in Vandergrift, PA, son of the late Raymond and Hulda Blackson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ray and John Blackson. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois (Stewart) Blackson; father of Charles (Beverly), Lisa, and Christopher Blackson; grandfather of Rachell (Kyle) Blackson-McDermott, David (Audra) Blackson, Benjamin Blackson, Meghan Blackson, Alexander Blackson, and Jacob Blackson; step-grandfather of Bridget (Jeff) Baker; also survived by six great- grandchildren; brother of Diane (Don) Dezzutti. David served for four years in the US Navy during the Korean Con?ict. David was an engineering graduate from the University of Pittsburgh and was a Vice-President of Elwin G. Smith Company, located at the time in Emsworth, PA. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Shannopin Country Club. He also liked hunting and was a member of the North Boroughs Sportsman Club. After retiring, he served several years as a Kilbuck Township Supervisor. He enjoyed large Sunday dinners with his family, which he often cooked. He is very much loved by his family and will be terribly missed. BERCIK BERNARD RAYMOND Age 85, of Moon Twp., passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019. He was born in Donora, PA on February 23, 1933 the son of the late Julia and Peter J. Bercik. His American dream began by playing football at Donora High School and by receiving many football scholarships, among them one to Georgetown University. There he met Jacqueline Daley, now his beloved wife of 62 years. He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, served on active duty for three years, in the Reserves for 13 years and was discharged as Captain. He graduated from Georgetown Law School in 1961, practiced law in Pittsburgh, founded Merrit Development, Inc., and established himself as a commercial and residential real estate developer throughout Allegheny County. His company survives him and his loyal employees continue to manage his properties. Bernard was preceded in death in 1960 by an infant daughter, their third child. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline, his children, Bernard J. Bercik (Mary Lynne), Michael J. Bercik, Judith A. Bercik, Mary Elizabeth Leonard , Barbara McConnell (Todd), his beloved grandchildren, Katherine Glusica, Elizabeth Rugh (David), Robert L. Leonard III (Anna), Jacqueline Dobies (Justin), Julia Neel (John), Alberta Leonard, Caroline McConnell, Bernard R. Bercik, John Paul Bercik and 10 cherished great-grandchildren. Also survived by a sister, Mary Ann Finotti; brothers, Peter J. Bercik (Peggy), Richard C. Bercik (Verna); and many nieces and nephews. Family wishes to thank those who helped care for him, foremost Lynne McCullough and his son, Michael, Melissa Kanfoush and the staff at West Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. ASPIOTIS ANGELO S. Age 81, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2019. He was born on November 7, 1937 in Chios, Greece; he was the son of the late Caliope and Samuel Aspiotis. He was the beloved husband of Norma Kosarich Aspiotis for 16 years; loving father of Carol (Karl) Bostaph, Samuel (Chrissy) Aspiotis, Donna (Christopher) LaFronte, Dina (Michael) Berardino, and Kenneth Kosarich; cherished grandfather of Kevin Bostaph, Matthew Bostaph, Nicole Aspiotis, Sarah (Joshua) Wrona, Joey Kulik, Ashley Kosarich, Jessica (Ethan) Cline, Samantha Kosarich, Rebecca Berardino, Hannah Berardino, and Casey Kosarich; great- grandfather of Kennedy Wrona. Angelo moved to the United States at 14 and started wrestling. He won a West Virginia University (WVU) scholarship at Junior World Cup Title Tournament. He studied pharmacy, which he practiced for over 40 years. After all the awards and accomplishments he received over the years, he was most honored by the Community Service award he received in 2017 for his sel?ess dedication for over 40 years to amateur wrestling. HOFRICHTER JIM Age 91, passed away peacefully January 27, 2019 after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Born September 1, 1927, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Hofrichter, he lived in Mt. Lebanon and Bridgeville. He was a speed roller skating champion in his youth, representing Sports Haven Roller Rink. Jim served in the Navy Medical Corp. from 1945 to 1947, then attended the University of Pittsburgh (BS Science). Jim was Vice President of Easley and Rivers Inc., a past President of Pittsburgh Builders Exchange, and was very active in the construction industry. He retired to Pinehurst, NC, where he played golf, traveled, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and served on the building committee for Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School. Jim was in the Knights of Columbus and active both on the links and in the board room as a member of Valley Brook Country Club, Pinehurst Country Club and The Country Club of North Carolina. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn, of 68 years; daughter, Patty (California), Nancy Hojdila (Terry, Aliquippa), Susan Hofrichter-Watts (Robb, Upper St Clair); ?ve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; survived by siblings, Bill (Florida); and preceded in death by Joe, Barbara and Anna Marie.   No visitation. KORPIEL DANIELLE EDGAR Entered into glory on January 30, 2019 at the age of 45. Danielle will be forever remembered by her loving and devoted husband, John; her parents, John and Carol Edgar; her best friend, Ravisha Mathur ; her affectionate and loyal sisters, Nicole (Bob) and Amanda (George); and her brother Robert (Jessica). She was the favorite and cherished aunt to Caden, Brayden, Brendan, Simon, Kellen, Eilidh, Kaylie, Lily, Wesley, Mhairi, and Kieran. Danielle grew up on Tuscarora Street in Point Breeze. She attended Geneva College and graduated with honors with a BS in Nursing from the University of Rochester. She enjoyed working at East Liberty Family Health Care Center. Despite her persistent health challenges, she was undeterred in her devotion to her Savior Jesus Christ, her family, and her dedication to encourage and support the people she loved, even if it meant trekking to the former Soviet Union, North Dakota, or a regional spelling bee in Akron, OH. Danielle was famous as the world's most fantastic dog mom, keeping Teddy and Pablo pampered in a life of luxury. Danielle will always be remembered for her generous and feisty spirit, her ability to make friends anywhere and everywhere, her vibrant and lively personality, her thoughtful and sacri?cial character, and her determined, undaunted will. EULER JUNE MAGRINI Age 92, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2019. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard, to whom she was married for 67 years. June was the loving mother of Victoria Y. Huffman (Richard) and Michael H. Euler (Jean); she was also the devoted and doting grandmother of Melissa Mlecko (Peter), Erin Snyder (David), Evan Euler, and Jake Euler; and great grandmother of Sophia Mlecko, Eli Snyder, Gabby Snyder, Grace Mlecko, and William Mlecko; in addition to her husband, June was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Magrini; brothers, Victor Mackey and Elliott Bianchi; and sisters, Modest McQuaide and Audrey Huwe; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews. June graduated from Millvale High School in 1944 and married Howard on June 4, 1947. She was a medical secretary and worked at the Richland Medical Center, Passavant Hospital, and in several physician's of?ces in the Pittsburgh area. With her family, June enjoyed baking, candy making, gardening, bowling, camping, boating, and watching sports. She was a lifelong Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers fan. June never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion, and she loved the holidays. Her outdoor holiday displays were a delight for the entire neighborhood. June also spent countless hours attending dance recitals and performances, baseball and football games, and other family celebrations for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was always a top priority. Howard once described June as the bravest and strongest person he ever knew. She was faced with many challenges in her life but met each one with incredible courage and great determination. She met every day with a positive and upbeat attitude and was loved by many who treasured her kindness, compassion, and generosity. She will be missed by all those that she loved so dearly and those who loved and cherished her. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 12-4 p.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 806 Perry Hwy., North Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Richards Church. Interment will follow in Holy Savior Cemetery. MOLITIERNO FRANCES L . (MAETTO) Age 91, of Penn Hills, where she resided for 66 years, formerly of Larimer Ave., passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Salvatore A.; mother of Tom (Lucy), Joe (Wanda), Steve (Karen) Molitierno, and Annette “Toni” (Greg) Soxman, and the late Bert (Cindy) Molitierno; grandmother of Hope, Tommy, Carmen, Joey, Alyssa, Michael, Louis, Gabrielle, and Andrew; great-grandmother of 11; sister of the late Antoinette (Jinx) DeLuco and Mary Maetto. Fran was a graduate of Westinghouse High School and a member of St. Joseph and St. Gerard Majella Church. She loved going to Bingo, the casino, and had a special place in her heart for her dogs, collecting angels and butter?ies. She had an immense love for her family, and made countless sacri?ces for them in her life, starting at a young age after her mother passed away. She enjoyed her many travels with her husband of 73 years and continuously maintained lifetime friendships with many near and far.
